a co worker told me she was going on a tea break. Me and somebody else was stuggling with customers and ovens going off and derlery drivies and phone ringing. i got stress, showed anger. when she got back she said do you need me becasue i am helping in another department. i turned red in the face and said you stay here in a angry torn.

Anyway i said to the other co worker we are stuggling here and she was working in another department and she told me she was going on a tea break. (in a angry, complaing torn)

would this last part be detraction and mortal. i shouldn’t of said anything but anger and things not going the way i would like again got the best of me.

Ask a priest for the definitive answer.

For my opinion: I would say that the stress means that you did not act with full consent of the will, thereby mitigating your culpability.

I wouldn’t lose sleep over it, I’d say an act of perfect contrition or bring it up in my examen of conscience before I say the confiteor at Compline before retiring.

Detraction is not necessarily an objective mortal sin. From what you have described, it does not appear to be objectively gravely immoral in your case.

The mere fact that one is under stress, or any type of duress, does not imply that there is no full consent of the will.

Detraction is revealing the faults of another without necessity. This person’s faults were already known to those in the vicinity. You expressed frustration, which is different, and probably not serious unless you wished the coworker harm.

i was thinking should i say it or shouldn’t I. and i came out and said it.

I now know that she went to help the other department instead of her going on her break. its good that she went to help them but she should help her own department first.

i had frustration and annoyance. so is this only venial sin

I also said our department pays her not there she should be here
