The New Liturgical Movement has a post up with videos of the Tridentine Mass Workshop at the University of Windsor held on February 9.

A reminder about the special St. Albertus Mass this Sunday, February 17 at noon. Yes, the freestanding altar has been moved aside. The high altar, high pulpit, and communion rail will be utilized for the first time in decades. We have Fr. Borkowski to thank for organizing this Mass.

Speaking of Fr. Borkowski, he is planning special Tridentine Masses at Sweetest Heart of Mary on April 11 and May 30. Details will be announced here when plans are solidified.

Imagine that…the three historic churches within walking distance along Canfield Ave., plus St. Joseph’s right down St. Aubin, will all have celebrated TLMs.

I was able to attend the TLM at St. Albertus. What a beautiful church and a wonderful Mass! I think all would agree that Fr. Borkowski is a tremendous blessing for this area.

The New Liturgical Movement posted a story and photos of the St. Albertus Mass here. The high altar there is something to behold.

The leaders of St. Albertus are interested in holding more TLMs on a semi-regular basis, and you’ll learn about them right here.

🙂

I spoke to Fr. Ben Kosnac at Ss. Cyril & Methodius this past Saturday after 6pm Latin Novus Ordo Mass (beautiful by the way by Fr. Marek Sitar.)

I asked Fr. Ben if he was going to have the TLM at his church and he said, “Very soon! We are making preparations.”

He wants his parishoners to understand the Latin Prayers by continuing the Latin Novus Ordo for a while longer.

This is great news. The newly expanded church is beautiful and the TLM will be in good hands with Frs. Ben and Marek.

Deo gratias!

Bishop Earl Boyea, regular celebrant of the TLM at St. Josaphat, today was named the Bishop of Lansing, MI. He will be installed on April 29.

He will be celebrating Mass at St. Josaphat on Easter Sunday, March 23, for the last time as Auxiliary Bishop.

Our loss is Lansing’s gain. This is certain to be good news for our colleagues in Flint and Jackson, as Bishop Boyea has been a faithful supporter and regular celebrant of the Tridentine Mass.

 Hi it’s me again, sorry for my long absence, unfortunatley for me my employment, has uprooted me and my family to the fair city of Columbus, Ohio. Where I might add, by the grace of GOD, The city of Franklington is home to an Historic Catholic Cathedral by the name of “HOLY FAMILY”. Under the guidance of Fr.Lutz. Fr.Lutz has a 9:00am Sunday Latin High Mass, as well as teaches young seminarians the Latin ritual, this is an Archdiocese sanctioned church, with full acceptance and support of the Cardinal.
I urge anyone visiting the Columbus, Ohio downtown or surrounding area, please attend this glorious Tridentine High Mass, with an outstanding antique pipe organ and accompanied Choir straight from the Heavenly Court…Cheers, and may by the grace of God, and our Blessed Mother, Holy Family Church and her religious faithful thrive for centuries to come…Pax Vobiscum…Ghost8108

Well,

Holy Family is not the Cathedral.
Franklinton is a neighborhood and not a city.
Columbus is a diocese and not an archdiocese.
And Bishop Campbell is not a Cardinal.

But Holy Family is amazing! 👍

 EXCUSEE ME FOR BEING STUPID, WERE NOT ALL AS PERFECT AS YOU…I ALMOST FORGOT HOW ARROGANT THE PEOPLE IN THIS FORUM ARE…

No offense was intended. And I apologize for offending you.

I was just pointing out a few things. I made no claim to being perfect. There was certainly no need for you to be a jerk about it.

I was not arrogant at all. But, your reply was certainly rude.

Okay, let, get back on topic.
As in, the Tridentine Mass in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

This week:

Good Friday: Tridentine Good Friday service at 5:30 PM at Assumption Church-Windsor. The Passion will be chanted.

Easter Sunday: Bishop Boyea will celebrate his final Tridentine Mass as Auxiliary Bishop at St. Josaphat at 9:30 AM.

We hope to see you at one or both!

On Friday, April 11 at 7:00 PM, there will be a special Solemn High Tridentine Requiem Mass at Sweetest Heart of Mary Church, to commemorate the death of its founding pastor, Fr. Dominik Kolasinski. Some history is on this flyer.

The celebrant is scheduled to be Fr. James Miara of the Archdiocese of New York, one of the regular celebrants at St. Agnes in Manhattan.

This will be the first TLM at Sweetest Heart since the the Vatican II liturgical reforms. It also marks the closing of the loop, in that its neighboring churches St. Josaphat, St. Joseph, and St. Albertus have all had their own TLMs already.

Tune into EWTN this Sunday, April 6 at 8:00 AM, and you will see a live Tridentine Mass celebrated by a familar face. The chasuble will look familiar, too. As will the Propers portion of the worship aid. Detroit exports more than cars on occasion!

Fr. Ben Kosnac will offer the Tridentine Mass at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Church in Sterling Heights starting this Saturday at 6pm Holy Mass.

I do not know if it will be every Saturday yet.

Many of you will remember Fr. Ben when he offered the Mass of the Ages at St. Josephat a few years ago in rotation.

Let’s have a good turnout and support Ss. Cyril & Methodius parish’s effort at offering this true gift.

I for one can’t wait.

Pax Christi,

Have they put the rails up yet. The pictures I have seen show no rails.

I’m a parishioner at SS C&M. Right now, it looks like this is going to take place every Saturday.

If you make it there on April 12, stop by and visit me after Mass. I’ll be in the (very small) schola 😉

And thanks for supporting our efforts! Fr. Ben and the servers have put in a significant amount of work to ensure the success of our new TLM.

Did anyone out there attend this? I have longed for a return of the TLM to SHM, but I was unable to attend due to a prior commitment. I would like to hear how it went and to see any pictures or video of this event that might be available online.
