In Deut. 12:32 says Don’t add anything. Then why the church adds, that celebrating Dec.25 Christmas day is a kind of worship for Jesus?
according to "United Church of God" it is wrong:rolleyes: .

…This sounds like an uncharitable attack on the UCG.

And it’s in the wrong forum. Suppose to go in the Non-Catholic Religion forums.

Not that I’m advocating attacking the UCG.

Please read the whole chapter.God was telling them how to offer holocausts(sacrifice) in a place and a particular way,and not adopt the practices of the Pagans around them.Telling them to not add anything.People pull certain scriptures out of context and try to prove “their opinions”.Anti Cotholic Religions(denominations)do this regularly condeming Christmas,Sunday Mass etc.To take this one scripture literarally out of context, would mean every Biblical Book after this one, should not be in the Holy Bible, including Any New Testament Scripture.Hope this helps.Peace.

Isn’t it ironic that every book of the bible after Deuteronomy could be considered “added,” since they weren’t there when this particular verse of Deuteronomy was written?!?!?

Because of the historical evidence that shows that His birth was probably during the winter and very very likely on 25 December or 6 January.

But if that is winter, she sheeps becomes sick and also the sheperds In (luke. 2:4-8) this was not unusual. “The flocks had to spemd the greater part of the year in the open air”. But would the sheperds be outside with their flocks on a cold December night? “they passed the winter under cover; and from this aloneit may be seen that the traditional date for Christmas, in the winter, is unlikely to be right, since the gospel says that the sheperd were in the fields”.

since Jesus Christ did not found anything title “United Church of God” I could care less what they say. I assume that denomination holds, observes and teaches everything in the bible up to and including Deut 12:32, and disregards everything that comes after.

That is my kind of religion…all the fall with none of the Salvation:p

note: this is a satire on the kind of denomination described in the quoted post, and in no way reflects any opinion I have about the United Church of God, as I have none, having had zero contact with them(in other words, its a joke, not a flame)

No problem, becuase you are overthinking “cold”. While it can reach 0C (32F), most of Palestine/Israel is around 18C (50F) in the winter. Since almost all poor shepards would not have large barns to house their flocks, it makes sense that they would be out in the fields at night and the shepards would be out watching over them and protecting them from predators.

How cold is winter in Manila? See what I mean? If Jesus was born in Fairbanks Alaska during the winter you would have a point, but I don’t think you do.

[SIGN]There no winter here in Manila Doc![/SIGN]👍 ! I understand what you mean! I get that statement, at the Awake December 2008 page 10 issue thanks!!

Thanks Doc. I have been away from my computer for a while.👍

There have been White Christmas’s in Bethlehem in the past. I distinctly remember one around 1990.

We all celebrate our birthdays, we do not know the precise date he was born, an appropriate date was chosen, by whom i do not know.
but I am shore he does not mind. if he did he would have left us with the correct date. it shore helps to get the Christian spirit going.
