The Introduction to Baruch provides all the answer I needed. Baruch was Jeremiah’s secretary, so he’d be wherever Jeremiah was. That is simple logic. It really becomes a non-issue at that point.
There is no one location for the setting for either the book of Jeremiah or Baruch. The place the passages in the OP are concerned with are actually Mitzpah and Egypt. Yet the person challenging the OP about the credibility of the actual texts isn’t concerned with this. It is another of the endless cases of a Protestant betting that the Catholic they are challenging isn’t familiar enough with the Scriptures to respond on the spot about his “issue” and accusations.

P.S. BTW according to Catholic scholarship the book of Baruch actually has several authors, not just Baruch. So what could those Protestants do with that little bit of information if their only goal is to discredit the Scriptures themselves? It would be like pitching the Psalms because they* all *weren’t written by David! Yeah. That is exactly how ridiculous they get and folks do fall for it.
