So if I understand right the rosary is a devotion to Mary. Is there anything similar except to Jesus or God? Like a daily set of prayers or such? Just curious.
I think it would be wrong to think of the Rosary as simply a devotion to Mary. Although it is true that the Hail Mary Prayer is repeated 150 times in a traditional 15-decade Rosary, 200 times in a 20-decade Rosary, and at a ratio of 10 to 1 when compared to the other (non-Marian) prayers of the Rosary (the Our Father Prayer, the Glory Be Prayer, and the O My Jesus Prayer), the vocal prayers are only part of the Rosary and some would argue the least important part of the Rosary. While praying each set of ten Hail Mary Prayers, the person praying the Rosary is also suppose to meditate on a set event (mystery) in the lives of Jesus and/or Mary and quite a few of those mysteries concern events in Jesus’ life when Mary was (probably) not present, such as when Jesus was in agony in the garden, when Jesus was scourged at the pillar, when Jesus was crowned with thorns, when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, when Jesus proclaimed the Kingdom of God, when Jesus was transfigured, when Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper, and when Jesus rose from the dead on Easter morning. In those cases, though the person’s lips are praying to Mary, their mind is focused on Jesus. So if I understand right the rosary is a devotion to Mary. If the Chaplet is prayed during the Hour of Great Mercy, the 3 o’clock hour and directed to Jesus, Jesus promises:Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world; for the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Diary, 476)
But of course your request must be compatible with God’s will:In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion. (Diary, 1320)
God blessThrough the chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will. (Diary, 1731)
