Maybe there is some hope:
Devotion to Mary growing among Protestants in England

London, Nov. 10, 2005 (CNA) - Devotion to Mary is growing among Anglicans, Fr. Noel Wynn told the New York Times. Fr. Wynn is the director of the Roman Catholic Marian shrine in Walsingham, known as “England’s Nazareth.”

Walsingham is home to two Marian shrines—one Catholic and the other Anglican—located at opposite sides of the town.

Well … the headline says “Devotion to Mary growing among Protestants in England.”

But if you read the full article you’ll see that it explains that these are Anglo-Catholics. We’re not exactly talking Bible-thumping Baptists here.

A protestant is a protestant. It happy the know that some are on the path back even if they are not the hardcore schismatics. God will rejoice when they come home.

I read in a Christian (not Catholic) magazine a few months ago that Anglicans now accept the Immaculate Conception. I think the same is true for perpetual virginity of Mary. Does anyone know anything more specific about this?

Um, from what I understand, it’s a personal belief.

I personally believe in the Immaculate Conception, however, we do not “celebrate” it persay. It’s not mentioned and / or printed anywhere. But I do hear there is a new Book of Common Prayer in the works.

As for perpetual virginity…YES.

Anyone is welcome to correct me if I am wrong.

Mary is so amazing, I can only pray that everyone comes to know her love like we have…anytime the mother of God wants to pray for me, I’m not going to protest:)

I went to Walsingham last weekend! It was amazing! I was at the Anglican shrine and it was so, so beautiful!

The Anglican churches I used to go to have no devotion to Mary and certainly would not accept the Immaculate Conception. Some might accept the perpetual virginity. Not where I used to go to (the Anglican church in Wales with the largest congregation):

Not very high church is it?!

It’s only some of the high church people who have this devotion.
On the other hand high-church or even mid-church Anglicans in the UK wouldn’t call themselves protestants. In many Anglican churches in the UK inside the door there is a notice explaining that the CofE is not Protestant but “Reformed Catholic”.
