Hello!

I’ve seen a couple of different organizations that claim to be the “official” precious blood devotional sites, however, I’m still confused.

Does anyone have any experience with this devotion, general comments about it, or about Barnabas Nwoye?

Here are two of the sites:
preciousblooditnl.com/
preciousbloodinternational.com/

Good Point!!!

So why do most tabernacles only have the host?

The devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus is a beautiful devotion and a commitment to pray and console Jesus for the sins of the world.

To answer your question, the www.preciousbloodintl.com site is the only official site that is truely recognized by Bishop Ayo-Maria Atoyebi, O.P. of Ilorin Diocese and Spiritual Director of the Apostolate and Barnabas Nwoye both of the Nigeria, Africa area.

The devotion was brought from Singapore where it was well known to the USA in June 2004 to the Houston, Texas area. When presented to the Bishop of that area, he and his successor gave permission for the spreading of the devotion. The Texas group did a lot to promote the devotion under the guidance of Aurora and Mary Agnes. For a short time Patricia (www.prectiousbloodinternational.com) in Florida was coordinator and then was asked to step down from this responsibility and the coordination of this devotion was again given to Aurora. You can read more about this on the first web site as the whole history is there and very lovingly explained.

I have to admit that Patricia from Florida (www.preciousbloodinternational.com) has done a lot to promote this devotion, but not in the way that it was originally deemed to be promoted. The prayer book on her site is not the official prayerbook, nor are the sacramentals she offers. Patricia has good intentions but is not officially recognized by the Nigerian Apostolate.

I would suggest that anyone who wants to become involved in this devotion to spend time in front of the Blessed Sacrament talking to Jesus Himself and ask for His guidance and follow what He tells you. Please, please do not let the politics and the rumors get in the way of your decision. Myself, I am only involved with the Texas apostolate as they have the true blessings of the Bishop and Barnabas where this all started and it was my time in front of Jesus that led me to this decision.

I have been praying these prayers for almost 6 years now. It is definitely something you are either called to or not called to. I made my consecration 4 years ago. I love the devotion ; but at times I am very week and cannot do it all. I hope this answers some of your questions. If you have any more, just let me know.

PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS SAVE US AND THE WHOLE WORLD. AMEN

I don’t know anything about the websites, but the Litany of the Precious Blood is a good prayer and Church-approved.

I agree that the Litany to the Precious Blood is very beautiful; my favorite prayer of all the prayers is the Consecration to the Precious Blood. I had this particular prayer in one of my prayer books and have been praying that particular prayer for almost 18 years now.

If you do decide to get the book and the rosary, I would advise you get them from the Texas address: www.preciousblooditnl.com as they have the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur from the Bishops in Nigeria. These Latin words mean that what is contained in the prayers has nothing against the teaching of the Church and are okay for us to pray, read(in the case of books and prayerbooks). I hope this helps. Have a good evening.

Many Catholics are not aware that it is essential for the priest to use both bread and wine to celebrate the Eucharist. However, it is sufficient to receive the Eucharist in the Consecrated Bread, which is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the Risen, Glorious Lord you receive, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, whether you receive just a crumb of the Consecrated Bread, or a drop of the Precious Blood.

For practical reasons our Lord’s Presence in the Consecrated Bread is what is kept in the tabernacle.

Devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus is powerful, as it reminds me of His sufferings and agony for me.

Thank you for your responses! They are very helpful and appreciated! 🙂

I was wondering about the “Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur” now. Do both groups have proof of this, or only the Texas organization? I know someone that has a book from the Florida folks, so if there is something in it that is against the teaching of the Church, I certainly want to advise them to look more closely.

Sorry it took so long to get back to posting about this Devotion. Both prayer books - the one from Queenship Publishing and the one from the Florida group both have the Nihil Obstat, but the one from Queenship also has the Imprimatur where as the one from the Florida group does not. I am no expert by any means, but I believe that there is nothing in either book that goes against Church teaching.

In the front of the book put out by the Florida group it says “The “Patricia Fason verson”…”. She did not have the blessings of Bishop Atoyebi to print this prayerbook. I know from a statement in one of her newsletters that she was going to print a prayerbook that did not involve all the flipping of pages as one has to do in using the original prayerbook. She has also added some prayers to her prayerbook that are not in the original one from Queenship Publishing which is the one that the Texas group reccommends.

Praying the prayers and meditating on the Mystical, Consolation, Adoration Prayers and the Anguished Appeals is what is important.

I just want to point out that the devotional material based on the Nigeria experience is new but the Devotion to the Precious Blood is not; I have a book with prayers that go back 150 years and I know it’s much older than that. I use the standard Precious Blood chaplet, which I think the new version is based on; the prayers for that are widely available (eg, here: catholicdoors.com/prayers/chaplets/chap09.htm). I agree that it is a very powerful devotion and full of good material for meditation.

Myangelmarc, I have found your information and replies of great value as I too have asked one of the apologists in this web site for his views on this matter. As yet, I have not received any reply.

I have recently come across this devotion through a South American missionary and I must say that I found it very inspiring. However, I am going to try and translate an excerpt of this book which, apparently, was printed in Costa Rica containing the Nihil Obstat of the Archbishop of Nigeria. It refers to one of Jesus’ ‘Anguished Appeals’:

“My agony is great when I see many of My Priests allowing unconsecrated hands to distribute My Holy Body and Blood… My agony is great when I see people receiving Holy Communion on the hand…”

If the above excerpt is accurate, how is it that our Holy Mother Church allows the Ministers of the Eucharist (laity) to distribute the Holy Eucharist? It is confusing and can confuse others.

Dear Friends,

“Myangelmarc” is wrong in all her facts:
  1. Queenship Publishing has a fake Imprimatur in her book and it was recently condemned for this reason by the Archbishop of Miami. The devotion itself is good, but the theological errors, the fake copyright and the fake Imprimatur have caused their version (with 176 changes) of Patricia Fason’s work to be condemned.
  2. Patricia Fason has published her own clean copy of her work (without Queenship’s errors) which she and the visionary, Barnabas Nwoye had worked on for 7 months. She has the support of her Bishop. Their apostolate has spread the devotion to 55 countries. They do free parish missions all over the country. Patricia was invited to speak about this devotion in the Basilica in Washington DC. Those are all good fruits…
  3. The website from the Texas woman is all lies. The priests of the Association of the Precious Blood as well as all the laity that work with them are appalled at the brazen slander this woman posts. If anything she claims was true, Patricia would have been barred from speaking at the Basilica. As it is, Patricia’s Bishop wrote a letter of recommendation for her to speak there. The woman from Texas has not been invited anywhere. Sounds like sour grapes…
  4. The fruits are all there. Its pretty easy for a discerning Catholic to figure out. Be wise!

Laity can be Extraordinary (not Ordinary) Ministers of Holy Communion (not Eucharistic Ministers, entirely different thing!) by being trained and being granted the faculty of helping to distribute Holy Communion when their help is needed. 🙂

There are guidelines for all of this. Here’s a link to one such set of guidelines from a diocese. Hope this helps. God bless!

I believe that everyone devoted to the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ deserves to know the true site or group recognized by the Apostolate in Nigeria which is why I called the office in Nigeria. I spoke to Brother Josephat Ilo, a former Co-Ordinator of the Apostolate. He confirmed that the Apostolate in Nigeria stopped working with Patricia Fason’s group in Florida in 2011 or thereabout. Some of the reasons he gave are same as those stated on the site of the Houston group. He gave more reasons why Patricia was asked to step down.

It doesn’t matter that Patricia Fason was invited to speak at the Basilica. What matters is that she is no longer the official representative of the Precious Blood Apostolate in Nigeria.
Please feel free to call the office in Nigeria to speak with any staff there. The following are their numbers +234 803 628 7087 and +234 802 327 6517

Okay, I just got on this site but I know Precious Blood Devotion really well. I am a Nigerian and have been in this devotion for more than a decade now. I moved to Canada in August 2013 and have been struggling with finding people or members who would promote this devotion. For what is happening in America, I don’ really know because it seems there are several sites there fighting and conflicting each other. But if you want the main Nigerian website it’s “preciousblood95international.com” you can copy and paste it or search it on google, God bless.

I don’t do that particular devotion to the Precious Blood, but I very much like to pray with the Litany of the Precious Blood.

There are so many beautiful devotions, and the Holy Spirit leads us to what He will.

May the Lord bless you and lead you in your spiritual sharing!
