Please pray for DH. I just found out through the Internet, researching something else, that his mother died a week and a half ago. There was no service of any sort, but his sister did not bother to tell him anything. When DH’s aunt called the mother’s old phone number, the sister answered, and was more concerned about who inherited what than the simple human courtesy of letting a person know a parent has passed.

Mar’s sister has problems with drugs and alcohol. The only apparent blessing is that the property has been decided and divided.

And I get to be the one to tell my husband.😦

So, I guess I need prayers to handle this, on top of all the other stuff, and of course prayers for Hubby, who while he wasn’t close to his mother and sister, is going to grieve.

You are in my prayers. Keeping my rant to myself. Sympathies with you and your DH - what a mess! God bless you and give you patience.

I will keep you and your husband in my prayers, especially that he will be able to forgive his sister. I had something similar happen in my family except with a more distant relative, and I still struggle with forgiving them. May God let his mother rest in peace and may he give you both the grace that you need to deal with this situation.

Oh my goodness, 'burbs…prayers for you, hubby, and his family.

As you know your dear family is often in our prayers …

Take care of you and your DH and the little sweet girls …

It is terrible how fairly dynamics work at times …

PS: sent you an email via CAF as I could not PM as the error message says you need to clear folders  … I hope you get it …

:signofcross:
May the Lord Jesus receive your MIL into His loving embrace …

May Jesus comfort your husband and your entire family, providing healing to old hurts and wounds … healing of bodies and spirits …

May Jesus enlighten estranged family … healing their addictions and providing them the grace to seek reconcilliation …
:gopray2:

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen

My deepest ondolences and prayers for the repose of the soul of your husband’s mother. Also praying for his sister. God bless.

Wow 😦

Mass today for the repose of the soul of your husband’s mother - and for the whole family, you all sound like you could use it. :crossrc:

Mother Mary come and console this child of yours, and I pray that you intercede for his mothers’ soul before the Lord.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

I don’t know what to say.

I will keep you, your husband and family in my prayers and Masses.

Love, Trishie

“Console yourself with the Lord’s promise to repay ‘twice over with blessing’ for all we have suffered.” [Zechariah 9:12]

UPDATE: My DH is trying to be stoic andnot resentful. I wsih I could say the same about me.

The area where my MIL insisted upon living has a very corrupt government system (Yes, more corrupt that Chicago;) ). He did not want her property. He could never get her to love him as he is: An intelligent proessor of philosophy who is successful in hs own right. She wanted him to move to that part of California, even though there was no work for him there. She wanted him to be in the trades, a roofer, even though he gets sick in the sun and gets vertigo on anything higher than a step-stool. Instead, she preferred as a “son” a three-time felon who is a registered sex offender. This guy, his wife, DH’s sister, and DH’s youngest niece all inherit.

I’m sorry. I’m not as nice as my DH. I hurt and I cry and I rage.

So- that’s where we stand, folks!

I will pray for all of your healing at this time of loss, especially surrounding the circumstances. Suggest to him that he has a memorial mass said for his mother, and invite your closest friends and family to attend. That may help as well.

Sadly, she was probably “dead” to him for a good long time.
I will keep you all in my prayers, and for the repose of her soul and for all of your anger against the injustice of it all. Pray for them all yourself too, it will help you to get over it. :signofcross:

Suggested it twice. He is having Masses said for her, but does not want to have a memorial for her. I am afraid for him, because I think he is stuffing all this in and trying to be a “man” about it. he was not that way when his dad died. He cried, he missed him, he had a memorial mass for him in his dad’s hometown- we even had computer-generated holy cards!

Thanks. I have been. I actually broke a rosary praying yesterday. Thanks for helping me see my anger is at the injustice. I couldn’t figure out why I was so darn angry!

My heart goes out to you all.
