This may seem like a silly question. My son is going to be ordained a Deacon in April 2009. I am wanting to write something nice & original (not just congrats…) on the cake that I am ordering for the celebration afterwards, any suggestions?
 
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your sons ordination:thumbsup:!!!

How about “Good Luck and God Bless” or a picture of his patron or favorite saint.

Is he being ordained a transitional or permanent Deacon?
 
How about an icon of St. Stephen the Deacon on the cake?

Most bakeries have the wherewithal to print edible pictures, including icons, on cakes.

Thank you, he is being ordained as a transitional Deacon. I am very proud of him. This whole posting on forums is very new to me it took me a while to even get back to this page as you can see. Thanks again for your well wishes and for your response!

Thank you. I like that. This is very new to me to post on sites like this. It was hard for me to get back to the site as I am working a lot of overtime currently, but I was very happy to see that I actually had a few answers to my question. I do like your suggestion, thank you for sharing. So, this is truly what the Bishop says to the men being ordained? Will he recognize the quote?

I’m not crazy about the edible photos for a grown up’s cake. Great for a kid’s birthday party, but this is a pretty important occasion. (just my humble opinion 😉 )

Take a look at the images on this page: ndice.org/stole.htm I think something like this would be nice on the cake - the image on the right would be perfect and easy to duplicate.

🙂 I spoke to a friend that is also a Permenant Deacon, and he confirmed that these words that you suggested are definately ones that my son would recognize. “I” just did not know. Thanks.
