I really don’t see any “doctrinal issues” which are different. Vatican II did not change any Church doctrine.

Peary, I don’t see any such differences either.

But I guess when people want to see you go down, they’ll do whatever it takes to bring you down. Especially if you have a lot of churchgoers there. They will toss in more obstacles, like the New Mass. They’ll throw in more “spirit of Vatican”, Magisterium, polls, and whatever else it takes. We see that in politics all the time. I think they call it “moving the goalposts.”

Maybe I’m exaggerating things a little, I don’t know. After all they did lift the excommunications and agree to have the talks even after the Bishop Williamson’s fiasco. But I feel the SSPX issues will never be fully resolved. Same goes for the Anglican situation.

I agree. The issues will never be fully resolved until the SSPX wants them to be. Right now, they’re just playing around with the Vatican, in my opinion. Sadly, it is to the detriment of their own salvation.

I’ve attended SSPX Masses every now and then, mostly as an observer. I don’t think they see the Vatican as the problem or even the source of the problem. But they do need to update their websites and toss out some anti-Vatican books from their bookstores; otherwise they will continue to lose in the public relations department. As with the Anglican situation, some of their major benefactors and many local bishops and others aren’t making things any less tense either. Lots of territorial issues are involved. Ever hear of squatters’ rights?
