If so what was the context?
“Bringer of light”. And more specifically, the planet Venus when it appears before sunrise. Also, a candle or a lamp.Lucifer means son of light. This term is applied in a positive way to Jesus.
English versionFlammas eius lúcifer matutínus invéniat:
ille, inquam, lúcifer, qui nescit occásum.
Christus Fílius tuus,
qui, regréssus ab ínferis, humáno géneri serénus illúxit,
et vivit et regnat in sæcula sæculórum.
May this flame be found still burning by the Morning Star:
the one Morning Star who never sets,
Christ your Son,
who, coming back from death’s domain, has shed his peaceful light on humanity,
and lives and reigns for ever and ever.

Most of us older folk have heard the tale so many times that it is dreadfully dull by now. This story has been making the rounds since the 1500s, and refuses to die no matter how many times it has been refuted. If anything, it made for an interesting thread. I certainly learned something new.
