Did Adam and Eve have female descendants?

Genesis doesn’t mention where the women descendants of Adam and Eve came from. A CCD student asked about this and I told her Adam and Eve likely had many children over their long lives. But the purpose of the story of Genesis was not to provide all of the details of each person.

What would be a better way to explain this to an 8th grader and her mom. She said they both wondered where the women came from.
