I have heard Tim Staples (and others on EWTN) mention that although we (Catholics) are free to accept the evolutionary process as a means through which God created humankind (i.e. through intelligent design), we must accept the historical truth that Adam and Eve actually existed and were, in fact, the first human beings. Tim mentioned that such an interpretation of Scripture can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and, as such, all catholics are bound to accept such a teaching. Where does the Catechism actually purport such a teaching (please provide the specific paragraph number as found in the Catechism)?
