Did certain Marian truths originate in Antioch?

On Michael Barber’s radio show the other day, I heard him say that certain Marian teachings originated in the Syrian Chruch, which I find very enlightening since these teachings are often presented as “Roman” inventions.

I’m looking for helpful info.

Perhaps Barber was referring to some of the hymns of Ephrem the Syrian, who is often considered the first doctor of Marian devotion.
