Jesus spoke about the famous “three (3) days” many times; In fact, he spoke about it ten (10) times.
Hi
And my Catholic friends become sentimental whenever they read “three days” they go into say a sort of trance, as if it had some kind of sanctity. If Jesus had to become God, in fact it would have been more important if he would have become alive in three hours rather than three days. The Jews would have been still there and seen him rising to the skies, and even if they would have tried to catch him and punish him again they would have failed in such attempts. Then the Roman officials would have also prepared a list of such Jews with names and addresses as a witness for all times to come.
Thanks

I however respect your faith, which is more of a blind faith, rather than being research oriented.

John 20:29 Then Jesus told him " Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed"

The ‘Jews’ witnessed the crucifixion - with accompanying earthquake, eclipse of the sun, raising of the dead and so on. Even the pagan Roman soldiers standing by knew the extraordinary nature of what he was witnessing.

They set guards at the tomb precisely because they knew something could happen with the body - and yet when Jesus’ followers claimed it did where were the witnesses to say ‘we guarded the tomb and look, here’s the body still inside, they’re lying’?

Then there’s Paul - a Jew and a fearsome persecutor of Christians before he turned around and converted. What do you think would make a man do such a thing? Again - something extraordinary.

Hi
Why don’t you mention witnessing of Crucifixion of Matthew, Mark and Luke? Where were they standing when the event took place? Perhaps it was not an event of any importance for them. Was it for them important enough?

So, it is all confusion in Catholicism, in my opinion, which would remain there if they don’t think rationally, logically and reasonably.

At what hour did this crucifixion take place – was it in the third hour, as Mark says, or in the sixth as John says?
Thanks

The ‘Jews’ witnessed the crucifixion .
Hi
So the twelve apostles hardly witnessed the Crucifixion, perhaps only Jews (and some other followers of Jesus) witnessed it; and from their hearsay Matthew, Mark and Luke prepared their books. For an eye-witness it is essential that he should be present on the incidence of a happening and he should tell where he was standing at the place of happening, then he should be cross examined; the above apostles were never subject to any cross-examination, to my knowledge. Were they?
No, because they were not there.
Thanks

One should search for truth in the NTBible, but one should not compromise on truth, if it is not found there.

John was present and when the others wrote they got their information from witnesses who were there.

Rubbish - the Seventh Day Adventists (this article appears to be an example of their work) are pretty much the only ones that disagree with the standard mainstream Christians on this issue.

98% of the Christian world is agreed that he died on the Friday afternoon 3 o’clock and rose on or about sunrise on the Sunday (and whether it was very shortly before or at sunrise or slightly afterwards really is a totally insignificant detail - a matter of a very small difference of time - wouldn’t even get the story doubted in a court of law).
Jewish law forbad buring on Sabbath so Christ had to be buried prior to sundown on Friday( first day ), Saturday(second day ), the morning of Sunday( third day ).

Hi
The question is: why were not all the twelve apostles present on the scene of Crucifixion? Was it so an insignificant incident that they were not there? And later they had to gather information from the hearsay.
The Catholics base their most important beliefs on this single incident, their ( the apostles’) lack of presence speaks volumes.

For John I find following comment : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_John

“Since the “higher criticism” of the 19th century, historians have largely rejected the gospel of John as a reliable source of information about the historical Jesus[3][4]. “[M]ost commentators regard the work as anonymous.”[5]

I furhter have to add that the writers of Gospels have never been cross examined for their witnessing or otherwise of the incident of Crucifixion.Sorry, I cannot believe blindly.
Thanks

Yep it does:tiphat: Such a statement shows a great ignorance. Please enlighten yourself by reading the Gospels where this question is answered. Simply they had deserted Jesus all but John. Peter was the worst as he denied Jesus as Jesus said he would.

Wikipedia cannot be relied on nor can those who make such statements over a thousand year later be relied on. You demand eye whitenesses and then rely on those who have an agenda who cannot possibly be an eye witness:shrug:

Hi
So neither the scribes witnessed the event nor for sure one could say that they got their information from witnesses who were there, most probably it was hearsay only as the account of the event has been narrated with much contradictions and ambiguities by the scribes. One could not rely on thoughts of the people as this involves cardinal beliefs of the Catholics, i.e. Jesus’ humiliating killing on Cross, Jesus resurrection from the dead (which never happened, as per my belief), Jesus getting killed on Cross for atonement of sins of the Catholics (which to me have no inter-relationship) and then ascension to heaven (which is only a misconception of the Catholics, in my opinion, as you know that I believe he went to India from Galilee along with his mother Mary).Such an important creeds of a faith must be based on absolute certainties and not on thinking/uncertainties.
Thanks

Friday crucifixion, Sunday resurrection - Three days and three nights
That is a very detailed look at all the texts in the Bible, concluding that Jesus died on Friday and rose on Sunday. Probably the best available online that I’ve found. 👍
Warning: the rest of the site is anti-Catholic.
Hi
To me, JesusYeshuaIssa was put on Cross, on a move from hardened Jewish Clergy on Friday with the intention of killing JesusYeshuaIssa humiliatingly on Cross as per their Scriptures to prove him a false Prophet in terms of Deuteronomy 13:1-5 NIV:
“If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, ‘Let us follow other gods’ (gods you have not known) ‘and let us worship them,’ you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he preached rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way the Lord your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you” .
So, in my opinion, Jesus could not be killed on Cross as he was a true Prophet of GodAllahYHWH like Jonah, as he himself prophesized . Jesus however died a natural and peaceful death in India, it could be Sunday or anyother day of the week.
Thanks

I don’t believe English is your first language. So I can understand when you don’t get something. I have told you before that some of your questions show how ignorant you are of the New Testament. It clearly explains why all but one apostle was not with Jesus. That reason was fear. Peter was so fearful that he denied Jesus three times just as Jesus said he would.
It has also been shown to you that prophets were killed John the Baptist being one of them.
Again I will tell you Jesus clearly stated that He would be killed on the cross.
Mathhew16:21-23
16 From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he 17 must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.
22
18 Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, “God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you.”
23
He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”
For you to say it is not true, Jesus answer to Peter is the same for you “Get behind me, Satan. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”

Hi
It is not a simple thing to desert Jesus on one hand and on the other to claim allegiance/love to Jesus and also ascribe saintness to the same persons.
John’s account is also not that clean as is being presented. Jesus trusted John to care for Mary, right as he was on the Cross. What did he do for her? Could somebody elaborate from NTBible what sort of caring he took of Mary after when Jesus departed from Galilee?
Please don’t mind, I love Jesus and Mary.
Thanks

St. Paul the Apostle spoke about Jesus killing on Cross in 1 Cor 15:
[17] If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
[18] Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. Unquote
Now, in my opinion, as you know that Jesus was not killed on Cross, so according to Paul, Catholic viewpoint is not proved; needs to be revised.

Hi

No Catholic friends have given a reply to my valid questions put by me in my last post. Perhaps they find it difficult to answer!?

Thank

Ahmadi Muslims believe that Prophet Jesus is a messenger from God. He was sent from God Almighty to deliver God’s words to his people. Jesus was never God, nor ever claimed to be God. Jesus was a humble wonderful human being just like the rest of the Prophets and Messengers of God. Ahmadi Muslims also believe that though Jesus was put on Cross but those who put him on the Cross with the intention of killing him on it never succeeded in their intention, nor Jesus ever died on the cross, nor ever wanted to die on the cross, nor ever was sent to earth to die on the cross. Jesus died a natural death in Kashmir, India

There is a lot of confusion on the day they say “Jesus rose”.Different Christian denominations have different time schedule for Jesus when he was put on Cross, when he was delivered from Cross, when he was laid in the tomb, when he “rose” and when he “ascended”, this is so because they want to help Jesus fullfill " Sign of Jonah" but they cannot reconcile the details of the event.
They all have misconceptions, sorry to state. The reality is different.
Thanks
All Christians up to about a century ago, ALL Latins and Orthodox, and most Protestants agree on Cross Friday, Rose on Sunday. Friday, Saturday, Sunday 3 days.

Jesus was not dead on Thursday evening. He was alive. That`s a fact. Why are you trying to read into it? It does not make sense. Why cant you accept that there is a possibility that you are wrong in your understanding of the passage?
Can you?
The understanding of the agony around being the initial part of His death goes all the way back. For one thing, to use Latin terminology, the sacrifice of the Mass, which is Christ on Calvary, was instituted on Thursday night, and has been so celebrated from way back.
