I just joined the single Catholics group on here and the latest posts were years ago.
Too much competition with the web dating sites? No interested users? What’s the dealio?

Hi my friend,

It’s my understanding that the forum groups will be phased out.

Some of the groups still seem to be active, and some seem to be pretty quiet.

Thanks for the reply my friend. I guess I showed up pretty late in the game. I thought it was a nice concept for single Catholics, sorry to hear it.

You’re welcome. 🙂

I know, as there are some very nice groups here on the forum.

One of the CA Live advertisers is catholicsingles.com. 🙂
I imagine it’s just as expensive as the other sites, unfortunately, but I haven’t had reason to check.

One person says Singles, the other says Match, same same. I think I might have to go international for a serious Catholic woman.

If you open your eyes, you’ll find there’s plenty of “serious” Catholic women in the US. The Catholic Match Institute is having a singles’ conference in Pittsburgh next month; why don’t you sign up for that?

Respectfully, I think it’s time for more Catholic dioceses and parishes to step up to the plate and start including singles in their ministries and activities. My parents didn’t have to PAY SOMEONE ELSE for the privilege for meeting each other – they met at church. Why on earth should I have to pay for the opportunity to participate in what’s a sacrament (discerning marriage)? And why is there a yearly World Youth Day but no official World Singles Day in which our Holy Father would also participate? 🤷

Mormon/LDS communities don’t have the problem of fleeing singles – they support their singles. When’s the last time you saw a single Mormon over 30?

Jewish communities don’t have the problem of fleeing singles – they support their singles.

Most evangelical and non-denominational churches…that’s right…support for their singles.
**
The question to ask isn’t, “Did [insert web site name] take our single users?” The question to ask is, “Why doesn’t our parish offer any activities for our singles?” ** I’m not one to endorse looking overseas for a suitable mate, but if singles are so invisible and taken-for-granted at U.S. parishes, then you certainly have my blessings to look elsewhere.

Hmm, my Evangelical friends would beg to differ.

They have a problem with fleeing singles too. From their personal experience, singles, are treated with suspicion at best and contempt at worst in Evangelical churches.

It’s like church has become a country club for smug marrieds and their perfect families.

From my own experience, I have long ago accepted that I cannot please or befriend everyone, so I let it slide if someone has a problem with me being single.

Just to relate what I think is kind of a funny story:

I had been attending daily mass at a parish near my office. I was going there for a couple of years and was kind of chatty with a man in the congregation. Nothing ever came of it.

So, I go back to NY on a business trip and I had time to go to mass one day, so I went and after mass he came up to me to talk. I told him I had moved and he said “I always had such a crush on you”.

Great timing! 🙂
