The fact that Jesus says “no one has…” could be an example of extreme language to make an important point - common in those days.
That is always one way to argue a point - Jesus didn’t really mean that we were supposed to take him literally, he was just using that ol’ Jewish hyperbole to make a point. Not that I don’t agree with that argument myself at times - I haven’t yet poked out my eyes or cut off my hands to help me avoid sinning …
I’m willing to accept that there can be more than one possible explanation.
I agree with you, Catholics can legitimately have differing opinions on the issue under discussion. The Church has not solemnly defined a doctrine about this matter as far as I know. More proof of why we need a church with the charism of infallibility to settles disputes when they arise. (I don’t think that the church is in any danger of being corrupted by believing Enoch and Elijiah are seeing the beatific vision.)
