I am in an argument with a friend of mine. We disagree with each other on this issue: whether Jesus Christ died as a God and man or whether He died only as a man. My position is that He died both as God and man. His position is that God is immortal. The Son of God did not die, but the man Jesus did. Basically, he is saying that God can’t die, therefore, only Jesus as man died. His quotation is “And although He according to divinity is immortal and impassible, the very same according to humanity was made passible and mortal…” (Lateran Council)
Which is the correct view? Can I say that, “Jesus as God and man died”?
