They prayed the protestors will win so China cannot take over Hong Kong. They are afraid that China might abolish all christian religions. Now Hong Kong is in chaos and filled with criminals/rioters. Many innocent people are attacked. Many shops are burned. Students’s studies are affected.

They have to add “may God’s will happen and not our own”. If they did that I guess as a private prayer it is fine. As a Mass intention or prayer at Mass? I don’t know. I mean, the Church cannot officicially take one side like that. Sure China might be bad but are all the protestors really that Christian? What about being open to different solutions. The Priests should pray that the politicians take the right decisions.
What do you think?

Hong Kong has always been part of China. The agreement with mainland China is that for 50 years from the handover from Britain that a one country two systems will operate. This ceases in 28 years from now and Hong Kong will be fully integrated into China under rule from Beijing. I think your question is about whether they will send in troops now to quell the riots. I don’t think so but whether its now or in 28 years Hong Kong will be fully under the rule of the Communist government in Beijing. Hong Kong will never be allowed to split from China.

Yes, China is an authoritarian state. The only reason people think that Hong Kong needs to accept china rule is they want their iphones at a cheaper rate.
