Did I commit a sin and will I remain in it?

Hello, I am having another problem in terms of telling whether something is a sin or not.

I used to belong to a Sedevacantist chapel. They had a little area where you could donate money and take medals and holy cards etc. I found a sterling silver saint medal (fairly expensive) I took the medal, I do not remember the amount of a donation I gave, do you think this matters at all? I am worried that by wearing the medal I am sinning.

When I look bak on it, I feel like I “rescued” the medals I got from that chapel. Is this a good mentality? Thank you for any help!!

If you gave what you could, and are wearing the medal reverently, you’re fine.
Presumably that’s what they wanted people to do, no?
I think it’s fine. People often give away things of value if someone will treasure it.

I do not think that the mentality you speak of is good. And there is nothing wrong with your wearing this medal you obtained, seeing it is Catholic and was blessed by a traditional priest. God bless you.

Thank you for your help, I can get very scrupulous sometimes.

Also just to be clear, the chapel was Sedevacantist, rejected Vatican II and my Diocese has declared thier orders invalidly obtained, in schism and no longer Catholic. That is what the bishop has decreed on that matter so that is why I left and why I beleive I reacued the medal from a group of schismatics who deceived me.

It is extremely beneficial to our soul if we give up/dispose of anything we greatly covet. I suggest you give it to a friend or hobo who might like to wear it. Thus earning great spiritual merit for yourself and curbing your covetousness. If you cant do that, then ask yourself ‘Am I controlling my possessions or do my possessions control me?’
St Gemma was once asked by the Lord to stop wearing a silver watch (gift) since it was becoming a distraction/temptation to her. She did so willingly.

I know what kind of chapel it was. You said it in your earlier post. God bless you.
