Did I commit a sin of impatience/greed?

Hello again,

Well, I bought the e-bay items I wanted, and at a good price. I’m happy about that. However, with one of the items (a dvd series boxset) I had the option of whether I wanted 2-3 day express delivery, or 2-5 day delivery. The 2-3 day was $7.99 and the 2-5 day was $4.99. Both are pretty fast considering you get your item within a work week, but I chose to pay more to get it faster, and I’m questioning whether or not I should have or needed to do that. To be honest, I did it out of impatience of not wanting to possibly wait a whole work week to get my item.

Is this greedy of me or a sin of impatience of some kind or a lack of discipline? While I got a great deal on the dvd set, which made purchasing it ok, perhaps I should have thought twice about paying an extra 3 dollars I didn’t need to just so I can get my item a couple days sooner? It’s not really a money issue for me so much as I wonder if I needed to do that. The answer is I didn’t need to, but I wanted to because I was impatient and want to enjoy my item asap. Did I squander the shipping and handling money, or waste it? Actually, just the shipping costs alone almost equal the cost of the dvd set, so this really made me think about it, in retrospect.

What do you think? It’s my right to pay more for speedier service, but it wasn’t necessary…

If you got a good deal, that beats going to the store and paying full price (you would have had immediately had you gone that route but paid more). Since you paid less and have to wait to receive, I don’t think greedy in paying more to get quicker…

Yeah, you’re right. I didn’t think of it that way. I didn’t think about how if I had bought it at a store, I would have paid much more (actually, this item is a rare import so I wouldn’t have been able to buy it in a store anyways). I also didn’t consider how there’s no waiting period when you buy at a store. It’s yours instantly. We wouldn’t call that greedy, so trading off a good deal but paying more for shipping AND having to wait as much as a week does seem fair and even-handed.

I guess I got scrupulous about this.

God Bless you for thinking about this though…I wish the fat cats on Wall Street had a fraction of your ethics…🙂
