Did I commit a venial sin in accidentally watching a sex scene in a film?

I watched an Asian movie where I surprisingly found out that there was sex between 2 naked couple. I swear I did not deliberately had lustful thoughts but still watched the scene hoping it would finish as soon as possible since I did not really care about it.

My question is do I still have to confess that to a priest? Did I commit venial sin by not running away from it or not looking at it?

No. And no. You cannot “accidently” sin. Forget about it.
 
We are surrounded by this sex stuff. It’s on television and painted on the sides of buses. It is used to sell almost every product.

Keep your Rosary beads in your pocket with you at all times and pray for the models and actors and all the others.

As another poster said, just forget about it and go about your daily business.

I often wonder what our Protestant friends think when they see Catholics so very anxious about their own salvation.
 
I don’t know the circumstances under which you saw this movie; whether it was in a theater, or on video in your home or streamed or what. But for future reference I will offer a little suggestion.

Maybe you have heard of the Internet Movie Database. It is an online repository of 1000s of movies; from the silent films of the early 1900s to present day films. And it is not just limited to American films either; it lists movies from all over the world.

If you plan on seeing a particular movie, perhaps you can look up the movie ahead of time. Their website is www.imdb.com. Most movies list a “Parent’s Guide” which will provide you with details about sex and nudity, violence and gore, alcohol and drug use, and profanity that is contained it the movie. That may help you to decide if you wan to watch the movie or not.

There is also an Internet Movie Database app for your smartphone.
