Just now I did something quite foolish. I went on youtube looking for types of historical movies on Spain. One particular movie came up, and as I often do, I searched online to see if that movie had nudity in it. It did. Instead of leaving the certain youtube channel alone, I instead went on several of the movies it had, and saying to myself “I’ll locate the nudity or sexual scenes and report them to youtube, so that others won’t be able to view them.” I originally did not intend to look for sexual scenes, but I looked on these videos for sexual scenes to report them, sometimes getting a second or third look.
I tend to be quite scrupulous, and my previous confessor would tell me to not worry about what was in the back of my mind, and to follow St. Alphonsus’ advice to give myself the benefit of the doubt.
Essentially, I necessarily placed myself in a grave occasion of sin for silly reason, I was strongly sexually aroused, but in my mind I said to myself “no I resist, this is so that these videos can be taken down.” I did not consciously enjoy any lustful thoughts though.
Any advice from one with knowledge of Catholic moral theology, also realizing that I have scruples, would be appreciated.
