Did I commit Presumption?

I have been fighting the sin of masturbation pretty much my entire life.šŸ˜¦ I have been winning the fight for awhile now, but recently I gave into the sin. I used all the tricks in the book to try to beat it. Then the thought came to me that if I did this I can just go to confession and have it forgiven. I didnā€™t start giving into the sin from that though, it was about 10min. later from all these ā€œthoughts.ā€ I feel horrible about what I did and I am going to confession to confess the sin, but did I also sin from presumption? Please help!

Masturbation is about the only mortal sin I commit anymore, unfortunately. It is a sin of weakness, not malice. Itā€™s a hard fought battle. I have committed the very same thing you have. Committing the dirty deed knowing full well I will be going to confession in a day or so. I look back and wondered what would have happened if I died before that confession? HELL BOUND. A sobering thought. šŸ˜¦
 
Isnā€™t the sin of presumption is that God will forgive us, He understands and therefore we donā€™t go to confession because of this reasoning? I think it is just the opposite of despairā€¦we donā€™t ask God to forgive us, because what I did was to horrible to forgive. So we donā€™t bother to go to confession. I think the thought process you went through is like that of an addict or an alcoholic, Iā€™ll just have one and of course that doesnā€™t happen. You are struggling to overcome an addiction as well.
 
I thought presumption was coming to confession after doing a sin. Like saying Iā€™ll steal a bike but go to confession so it will be alright.

The sin of presumption is a bit more complex than that. Thinking ā€œIf I sin this time, I can go to confession and get it forgivenā€ is not presumption, but thinking ā€œIf I sin this time, its okay because I can always go to Confession.ā€ Presumption is thinking of confession of a get out jail free card.
