I really don’t feel comfortable talking about this issues with my local priests…are there any Catholic priests on this form who might be able to give me some advice?

My advice is the same as anyone else is giving you on here. It is not prudent or helpful for those who are scrupulous to seek out help online. Scrupulosity is a compulsive condition that can lead to continual reassurance seeking, which is exactly what you’re doing by continuing to ask for an answer. The problem is, no answer will be satisfactory for very long, and the cycle will continue. It is better to approach a priest in person and seek out help that way. I promise you, we deal with this sort of thing quite a lot, and there’s nothing to be afraid of in talking to a priest.

It’s common sense. Who is better equipped to handle your issue, the rabble of contradictory voices in an online mob, or someone who underwent much training in providing pastoral care?

You are in my prayers.

Do you know of any priest on this site that I could message with? I’m not entirely comfortable talking with the priests in my area about this…

The thing is, seeking reassurance like this rather than receiving specific, one on one guidance that is consistent (i.e. from the same person who is actually qualified to be addressing situations like this) and able to react to your personal situation will probably be more harmful than helpful in the long run.

Listen to Fr @edward_george1, who has just posted.

You need to see a Priest offline about your scruples. I’m sorry if you feel uncomfortable with it, but that is the best thing to do, and the advice you should follow.
