During confession the priest asked where I live (at my own house or with my parents) because I confessed to having looked at impure things on the computer. He asked this because he said if I lived at my own house I could contact the cable company and tell them not to allow this type of content but since I said I lived with my parents i would have to ask one of them to contact the cable company because they pay the bills.

What I am worried about is I told the priest that I live with my parents which I do pretty much most of the time though what I did not mention was I do pay rent for a house that I regret renting where I also sometimes stay with my brothers. I honestly stay at my parents alot more than I do at the other house because its located better for me and for other personal reasons, Though I do sometimes stay at the other house that i do pay rent on though i honestly hardly ever stay there.

Would my confession be invalid because I did mention the house I pay rent on though I hardly ever stay there?

Also the priest asked, " Do your parents know you can view this type of content? They Probably do not know right?" I answered Probably not. though in all reality on the computer in my parents room i once found an impure movie. I do not know who DL it because everyone in our family had access to that computer (me and my brothers) Soo could I have also invalidated the confession by answering probably not when In reality who does not know u can access impure things on the computer?

Thanks and sorry if this is confusing.

Hello urijahchris,

I see no reason to think this was an invalid confession. What is required on your part is an honest manifestation of at least mortal sins as well as contrition/repentance. Honesty/completeness in revealing particular circumstances surrounding sins is always best, since it should help the priest offer advice. But, this in itself does not impact validity.

Nothing you did could invalidate your confession. The ONLY acts (on the penitents part) that invalidate confession are 1) lack of contrition: you’re not sorry and don’t intend to try and stop sinning 2) intentionally withholding a mortal sin: you know you committed a sin and that it was grave, but you intentionally fail to mention it.

God Bless
