Hello Guys,

When I was 12 I heard a few people talking about a group called the “Illuminati”. I was curious and wondered, “what is it?”. I was looking up videos on YouTube and reading tons of information about what they did and how they got rich and famous. Ways by selling their soul and practicing demonic things to achieve fame and fortune. Of course after watching lots of videos and reading information it sticks with you and lurks in your mind. Things such as “Should I sell my soul?”, and stuff similar to that. I’m extremely worried. Did I sell my soul?

You can’t sell your soul. God does not give us the authority to do that, and if you had, you would be dead right now. The Holy Spirit in our souls is what keeps us alive.

You seem really concerned about having sold your soul. When you were involved in this “Illuminati” episode, did you make a pact or promise or anything like that? I’m not saying that you sold your soul, but getting involved with stuff like that can definitely lead you on a path that takes you away from God. And, from what you say, I don’t think that’s what you want.

I’m not sure what went down when you were 12 years old, but your concern concerns me and I feel as if this matter is unresolved. I’m sure you know that God is merciful and compassionate. In the event you made a decision which you are now regretting, all you have to do is turn away from this sin (anything demonic is against God) and turn towards God. You do that by faith (talking to a priest or going to confession) and by letting God know how much you regret opening that door (repentance). If you are truly sorry, it will feel as if a burden has lifted off of you and you will be free as you were meant to be.

God is such a good God that he already knows what happened, but (like a loving father), He is waiting for you to come forward. I wish you the best. Place your trust in Him. He will never fail you as others might.

God Bless

You cannot sell your soul. That’s just an old wives tale!

Your soul is always yours.

Through sin, you might pawn it off to the devil.

But, through Christ’s atonement and the Sacraments, particularly Reconciliation and the Eucharist, you can always “buy” it back.

Make a good confession today and free yourself from anxiety.

Hi Liberality,

You can’t sell your soul. It’s not possible. If you truly attempt to, just take it to confession and you will be forgiven.

What you did certainly was not a good thing. You shouldn’t dabble in stuff like that. Best to leave it alone, and not encourage your interest. If you find yourself tempted to read up on the occult, or to look into this kind of stuff, just make the sign of the cross and say a Hail Mary. Ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to help you overcome the temptation.

I will say a prayer for you!

You can’t sell something that does not belong to you. So no.

Hi Guys, I just wanted to clear things up.

I am currently 13 and that happened a few months ago, but it somewhat left my mind since by then I knew that I never did sell my soul, and today it just seemed to pop back up.

To clear stuff up:
  1. I never did make a deal, do an oath or anything really demonic. I just normally lived my life with a thought of selling my soul and my self try to refrain from that thought.
  2. Its one of things that stays in your mind, such as a moral of a story, for example: “Always Share”, but in this case it was “Should I sell my soul?”.
  3. I had full faith to go against that thought, and I never actually did anything towards selling my soul. It was just a thought that seemed to come back into my mind.

Anything you read about the “Illuminati” is very likely BS

Even if you did “make a deal”, “do an oath”, or any of the rest, it would not be an eternally binding contract. “You have been purchased at a price. Do not become slaves to human beings.”** 1 Cor. 7:23**

Do not let anyone, human or demonic, convince you that there is some legal loophole by which the devil can circumvent the ultimate nature of Christ’s saving Death and Resurrection. You belong to Christ. All that is necessary is that you give your consent to it. No one can buy your ability to make that choice, not for any amount, and you can’t sell it. You can only answer Christ’s call or refuse to answer it. That’s all.

No, I did not make a pact, or a promise or anything on regards to that. Just a thought “Should I sell my soul” was just lurking in my mind. I was trying to fight that thought and get it out of my system. All though after a few days that thought went away.

You can’t sell your soul, but if the thought comes back, see a spiritual director in person. The evil one is telling you a mighty whopper with that one.

All right, should I make a good confession?

On regards to this issue?
Your question. You asked if you should make a good confession. Again I would counsel you to go to Confession. The peace that you will have after confessing this is priceless.

God bless.

I meant on regards to selling my soul? Since I really don’t know what to say, what to do about that issue. I don’t think people understand that I didn’t make an oath, a pact or anything demonic or even made any promises, I didn’t agree or trade my soul for something or even think of anything like that. The only thing that was happening was “Should I sell my soul” lurking around my head after watching a few videos and documentaries about the illuminati, I guess you could say I was being tormented.

I am not good with words in trying to write out what I am going to write out. So I am going to use an example with me, and then try to apply it to you.

When I started going to Confession, I did not want to be scruplous [not saying that you are, and I certainly still don’t want to be scrupulous right now.] but I would ask myself I really did such an act or not. For example, I have a bad temper that I am asking by God’s grace to help me learn meekness and humility rather than acting out. Yet there are times that I fall again and again, now I know sometimes that it is not a mortal sin when I lose my temper, but I’ll go in and confess and say for any sins that I comitted while losing my temper and try to name them. Errgh here’s another example.

Say that I am in an argument with someone. And I realize that I had some responsibility for carrying on that argument and that something I may have said or done started it. I would not confess the whole argument, I would confess the part that I was responsible for. Perhaps it is the same thing with you in your situation. You don’t have to confess that you sold your soul to the devil or anything like that, but perhaps being obessed about these thoughts.

I hope I am making sense. Go ahead and ask further questions and perhaps I can get the explanation hammered out.

All I am saying is that when I have confessed something that I was not sure if I had done in Confession by saying something like “And if I had any responsiblity in such and such a course of action, I confess that and ask for forgiveness.” And the peace that comes from this is priceless and it is seldom that I have to have recourse to this.

God bless.

All right, thank you so much for this reply. Excellent work!

All right, I want to add a bit more to my earlier reply. I really want you to understand my issue. Its something similar to this: Say you’re thinking of washing the dishes like “Should I wash the Dishes today?” and that thought keeps on coming back through out the day. Thats very similar to my issue except its “Should I sell my soul?”. When the thought comes back I try fighting it and trying to keep it out of my head.

So what you’re saying is that I should tell the priest that I’m having occult thoughts? Wouldn’t you think of it as a bit weird coming from a 13 year old boy?
