I got slightly angry at a co-worker today. I was cooking for a lunchroom(for 40 people) and was nearing completion. I’m very short when I’m cooking. I’m on the grill and I need my space. People get in my way and bother me and it requires a lot of patience. I typically have to coach the whole kitchen because no one knows what they are doing (this is not my pride, least not all of it, they really don’t and they appreciate my help and my cooking).
To get to the point. I was toasting the buns for the sandwiches I was preparing and this guy who, honestly, I’m a little put off by approached me. He’s always staring at me funny, and once asked if he could touch me arm. He’s made remarks about wanting a sex change and such. Anyway, he came up to me and said: “Nathan, why are you toasting the buns”. I just stopped for a second, made a face. I wasn’t that mad, but my mouth ran anyway, and I replied, “please don’t ask me stupid questions”. He’s kind of a sad and lonely guy, obviously disturbed, I instantly felt bad. 30 seconds later I was apologizing. Do I need to go to confession for this? I certainly didn’t show the best love for my brother and unleashed a little anger on him. I immediately apologized to him though, and think things are ok.
anyway, mortal sin or not? I’ve been doing so well as not to offend God lately and spending so much time in church, when I did this it really made me sad to see myself acting in such a way and concerned me for the self-esteem of the other guy. I can only imagine God’s sadness in watching me do such a thing and hurting one of his people. Made me very guilty.
Tommorows my birthday and I was greatly looking forward to waking up early for mass and receiving communion. It’s also my year anniversary of going to morning mass at my parrish.
