If Jesus were married to Mary Magdalene, it wouldn’t affect the truth of the Catholic faith. It might open the way for more theological reflection and devotion, but should it ever be found to be true, it wouldn’t change the fundamental Gospel we have received through Jesus’ Church.

I’m sure Jesus and Mary Magdalene were friends and one may speculate about the extent or nature of their friendship, but speculation that the two were actually married seems to me to be entirely unfounded. If they were married something would have been written about that somewhere, sometime in the early Church.

You are trying to prove a negative…impossible to do - for example, to prove there is gold in Nevada, one needs simply to find gold there. To prove there is no gold in Nevada, one needs to sift through every cubic inch of dirt and declare Nevada “gold-free”…impossible. The burden of proof is on your mother to “SHOW THE GOLD” -i.e. some sort irrefutable documentation or concensus of historians that the marriage took place!
I can relate to relatives who believe the TV or newspaper are the ultimate authority. An Uncle saw the same thing and has hung on to it like a pit bull terrier! The history channel is not to be trusted with providing accuracy about much. I’ve seen them drop the ball time and again on modern military history. They are selling “man bites dog” sensationalism IOT sell commericals/get federal funding, etc.

In Matthew 19:12 KJV Jesus said:

**“For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.” **

Here Jesus makes direct reference to the fact that celibacy is important for those wishing to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. As he claimed to be no less than “The Son of God” I think we can safely assume that he was celibate.

Okay, I know this is an old thread pulled up, but I just have a question:
About the Mormon thing, she means that we, the Church, are the bride of Christ. If Jesus were married in His life that would “make Him Mormon” because He’d have multiple wives and that would be okay. A reference, not an inside joke.
Why? If an earthly man can be part of His Bride and that’s not homosexuality because there will be neither male nor female, or a married woman can be part of His Bride and that’s not adultery or multiple husbands, then why would it be multiple wives for Christ to have had an earthly wife and a heavenly one?
If Jesus had been married then He would not be the Messiah and He would not be God. That would mean that we have been labouring under a misapprehension about who is God.
Why? How would Him being married make Him any less the Messiah?

I’m not saying He was. I’m just saying that these arguments don’t make sense. Can anyone answer why they would be true?
