Did jesus die as our substitute?

Ok, this was a mistake on my part. I was responding to the OP but it appears it looks like it was a response to you.

The mass majority of people around here dont use the hybrid mode in these forums (including myself) so we see everything as it is posted in regards to time (ie linear mode). I agree hybrid is better, but these forums are so used to linear that you will very often have people unintentionally responding to other posts thinking they are just continuing down the linear chain of posts.

Further with the new option to quote multiple different posts in one response, that will lead to further confusion for those using hybrid.

Hybrid doesnt work around here because even if your not quoting someone in linear mode just hitting the “post reply” button makes your response continue off of the last person’s post (when seen in hybrid mode).
Hybrid and threaded always work the best in these environments. With hyvrid in play, everyone can recognize who is replyin to whom and when the post was made.

Without proper use of them, no one can know who is speaking to whom.

Just a mess otherwise and even used as a chance to attack another poster. I use the board correctly and am charged with vice.

Amazing.

…

Does Jesus not also take upon himself the covenant curses of Israels sin?

Or am i just restating something already said with different words?

They specifically cannot work in an environment where a post can have multiple “parents,” which this environment is.

Furthermore, it’s not default, and most people who are accustomed to forums like these don’t use it. I didn’t even know of its existence until you mentioned it in this this thread. What we “old schoolers” do in forums like these is actually read the posts and determine for ourselves whether they’re actually a response to something we’ve said. This forum actually provides a nice quoting facility which, when used correctly, provides a link back to the post to which we’re responding (see this very post as an example).

If you’d read Catholic Dude’s post, you’d see that it had absolutely nothing to do with your post. It wasn’t written in response to your post, and the way it displayed to you (and likely only you, given the exceedingly small number of people who use a hybrid or threaded view) was an anomaly because he clicked the wrong button to reply.
With hyvrid in play, everyone can recognize who is replyin to whom and ]when the post was made.
We’ve been able to do that this whole time by using this faculty we have called “literacy.” We read the post and determine, based on its content, whether it’s in response to our own. Honestly, you should try it 😉
Without proper use of them, no one can know who is speaking to whom.
We don’t seem to have a problem.

Don’t be so dramatic. You weren’t charged with vice, and you certainly weren’t attacked: I just noted that of all the actual defenses here that you could’ve replied to, you chose to quarrel over words with a post entirely unrelated to your own. Noting an observable fact does not amount to a personal attack.

If one quotes the post one is responding to you’ll find there is very little confusion.

I am sorry, but I cannot make up for the lack of experience of every poster.

These forums are all the same. Users should learn how to use them properly.

I was legitimately replying to what the forum itself identified as a reply.

…The problem is that hybrid users…Like Atemi and his buddies at CARM, don’t often quote the post they are responding to, and as you can see… he seems to think that his way is the only correct way, (just like his theological thinking), but then, you’ll notice that the default setting here at CAF is not the hybrid one. Go w/the default and don’t sweat it…

I wouldn’t worry about it too much… if the post is too confusing… just ignore it.

How about we drop this hybrid vs linear debate and get back on topic.

It was a misunderstanding due to the two display systems. I used to hate hybrid but later realized it is better than linear…HOWEVER in these forums hybrid doesnt have a chance because not enough members use it…given that, LINEAR is the norm and is what we are left with.

In some ways its like the Metric vs English measuring system, while the English made sense in a limited area and time frame it later became clear it was inferior to the metric. HOWEVER in the USA we use the English system and it doesnt look like things are going to change any time soon so there is no use protesting the superiority of the metric.
