Did Jesus die on Good Friday or on Wednesday?

I thought Jesus died on Friday for over 40years.

but when I read Mt 12:40, I began to think Jesus actually died on Wednesday.

in the tomb for three days and three nights.

Jesus actually died on Wednesday and resurrected on sunday.

I think this is the fact.
 
Dear friend,

Scripture says that Jesus died on Friday and rose on Sunday. Though not three whole days, they are still three separate days. There is absolutely no evidence that He died on Wednesday. We need to remember that because Jesus promised the power of the Holy Spirit to the Church, it will always have more credibility than our own musings.
