Did Jesus have a fallen human nature?

Yeah, I get that the Catholic Church teaches that. But I’m not Catholic and don’t believe the Catholic Church is the arbiter of truth about such things. The Bible says she’s a sinner and so that’s what we go with. You have every right to believe what your religion teaches and I would not take that away from you. But we have two different sources of authority, so it’s reasonable to expect that we would have different views.

Where do you suppose the bible and everything you believe came from?

The Bible is a compilation of books and letters written by men who spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Catholics often believe they “gave us the Bible”, but this is not true. And even if Catholics did compile the books of the Bible, the books, themselves, existed long before the Catholic Church.

The entire New Testament was written by members of the Church.

And yet, literally the first response to the OP in this thread is from a Catholic saying Jesus did not have a sin nature because Mary was preserved from sin.

The Church, yes. The Catholic Church, no.

But it’s your religion and you can believe anything you want to. I’m not stopping you.

You believe that Jesus actually lived, right?
And gathered a community around him?

If you don’t believe the community has continuity, you’ve built a house on sand.

Catholics will tell you that Jesus did not have original sin because Mary was preserved from sin.
No Catholic who knows the least thing about the faith will say this. I never understand people who wish to debate a topic and do not take the time to understand the very basics of the opposing position.

Every Bible I’ve ever seen does.
Which is why I asked you for a source for your assertion.

And when you pick out some passages, can you show where the Church, from the beginning held that Mary was a sinner?
Because the Church that writes scripture also interprets it’s own scriptures, right?

(1) It’s not what the Church teaches.

(2) I read the first couple posts and don’t see what your claiming. Can you please quote it?
