I am wondering if Jesus had any free time? Cos I have learned that His ministry of serving so many people can be tiring.

Or did Jesus spend all his free time praying to His Father?

The Gospels say he often went off by himself to be alone.

In Catholicism, we believe there is an appropriate time for recreation.

Now, Jesus very likely was very busy. He’d have to sleep onboard the vessel for instance, when He calmed the storm.

Jesus had plenty of free time… but we have to seek them out… there’s the passage when He stays behind at the well; true that moment turned out to be one of the most important theological Teachings of His Ministry… but He was relaxed and not burdened with hundreds of people to heal and teach… at least for a few minutes! 🙂

Maran atha!

Angel

Jesus slept; he ate (fish was Jesus’ favorite) ; he “hung out” w/ the apostles; complained about the weather, walked, talked, preached…

we’ve been told that in the gospels that the majority of His human life is not recorded in scripture

it was hot & dry; why wouldn’t Jesus complain about it;

wouldn’t you…?

Whatever time God gives us, we should always remain steadfast and Holy. Remember, God rested on the 7th day of creation.

Did Jesus look at the birds? I believe He did, and was Thankful to His Father. Also, remember there were many works He did that were not mentioned in Scripture (i.e. not every account of every cure and miracle, admonishment, etc.) But the focus on the particular instances mentioned in Scripture suffice enough to say that is the mainstay of His ministry.

Consider the many Parables He spoke. The flowers of the field, the sower, and the lazy servant. All those appear to be God’s own reflection on life and creation.

Consider even the most fathoming point in the Gospel, the Wedding Feast at Cana. Did Jesus sulk? Was He unhappy? Was He bitter? Was He so serious? Well, I don’t think God’s love ceases to be serious about our life, faith, and Salvation. For God’s love never ceases as the flowers are clothed, and the birds have seed. God never withdraws His presence from His creation. So, did Jesus recreate? He sure did. For God’s recreation was making all creation; making you and me. And Jesus stands there in the midst of it.

the wedding at cana is a great example of what Jesus would’ve done during his “down-time”

thank you for posting that…

Yes, I agree; surely, Jesus would have attended a lot more weddings than the one in Cana, considering his popularity.

As a child I imagine he played hide and seek and all those kids games.
Not sure about his hobbies as an adult. Did people have hobbies in those days? Maybe that is a modern phenomena.

Jesus kept the Sabbath (when He wasn’t busy curing people, that is). So, He had some time to at least stay relatively stationary.

I’m sure Jesus spent time to shoot the breeze with folks. He was human after all.

Ha! Now I have a second reply to the topic: "Did Jesus have any free time? And, yes, He did 😉 For God is not confined by time and space. Jesus’s birth though eminent because of the fall, did not arrive through birth, oh some thousands and thousands, and upon thousands of years later after the fall. Sounds like God has a lot of free time 😉 Remember as Saint Paul ascribes: love is patient (that’s a lot of freetime to spare.)

Jesus spent His free-time to love and save us from our sins. He spent His free-time on the Cross. He spent His free-time helping us, curing us, and saving souls from damnation/hell. He spent His free-time with His Apostle’s, Disciple’s, and Mary Magdalene, and the Samaritan woman. He spent His free-time throwing the money changers table over, and correcting/admonishing the Pharisee’s, and Saducee’s. But the world did not have any free-time. For Jesus even said that to Martha: “you are worried about many things.”

Jesus just spent His free-time more wisely, because He is the Son of God.

Someone should do a book entitled: “When God Spent His Free-Time.” Oh yeah, that was already written. It’s called variably the Bible, Scripture, and Canonical collection of writings called the Old and New Testaments.
