I had an odd experience on a Catholic retreat I recently attended where it was suggested that Jesus did not “fully know” his divinity (perhaps as a result of becoming human). I wanted to jump up and take the retreat leader to task, but it was a silent retreat.

I say this is bovine escatology, but I wanted your assistance in making this point. I say, as I have heard on EWTN, that Jesus was both 100% God and 100% man. This is a mystery to us, but having this capacity, he knew the whole story, not just a piece of it at a time. Give me something I can respond with!

Because Jesus was fully human, as well as being fully God, we would say that he knew in his human nature that he was God as soon as his human brain was physiologically capable of processing that fact. (As God the Son, in his divine nature Jesus always knew that he was God.) While that would mean that we cannot p(name removed by moderator)oint the exact moment during his life that Jesus knew in his human nature that he was God, it does mean that he did not learn that he was God during his public ministry.
