Did Jesus know quantum mechanics?

So how does Jesus’ divine nature and his human nature “work”?

It is here that I think we need to take Someguy14’s quote from Collosians into account, as a warning about the limits of human philosophy. No one of us has any experience of assuming a second, lower, nature than the one we possess as humans. When we speak of such matters, it’s rather like our pet cat trying to explain how human psychology must work.
Hello JimG,

Colossians 2.8 does not apply here and it should be made clear what Paul was exactly referring to for the good of all and as not to mislead. Furthermore, in regards to coming to understand what the Church has given us to understand regarding the Hypostatic Union there is a lot we can learn from the teachings of the Church in this matter and that is what is being presented here. We cannot completely understand the Hypostatic Union of the two natures in the One Person of the God-Man Jesus nor the Trinity but it is good to seek to know God and understand and know at least that which has be given to know. Especially, so that we may know our faith and be able to explain it to others and prevent others from deceiving and misleading.

So, there is a lot that can be discussed about the two natures of Our Lord Jesus Christ and it is does not fall under false philosophy.

I’m late for work but I at least wanted to respond quickly,

Peace,

Abba

Pope John Paul II used this expression of the hypostatic union; Eternity entered time and human history. (pp)

Dear someguy14,

I disagree with your evaluation of Bohm Bawerk. I do not think that we can decide when it is useless to assist someone in their search for God.
That’s the problem.
Your accusing me of things I knew not.

If so, I disagree with you and it is to mis-apply the wisdom of the article here.
Psalm 35:11
False witnesses did rise up ; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

I stand firm with my post and if I must be beaten and scorged for The Word, than I thank God.
Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

May God bless.

It very much applys to this thread and if youv’e read the first post of that thread “Did Jesus know quantum mechanics?”, you’d understand that. Unless of course your argueing against God.

Yes Paul, your welcome on an actual christian forum.

Please stop attacking me.

I agree with you that Paul’s warnings to the Collosians here were about the dangers of trying to mix pagan philosophies with Catholic truth. He was obviously not referring to all philosophy or to discussions of the hypostatic union. Philosophy has a place to play in the human understanding of God, and entire books have been written about the hypostatic union of two natures in one divine person. It still remains a rather daunting proposition, however, to think that we as humans, can fully grasp the inner workings of the mind of Jesus. He had both a human intellect and a divine intellect; one can reflect on the fact but not experience the reality.

He was obviously not referring to all philosophy
Thats spiritually discerned though.

Lets break it down, though.

God is omnipotent as mentioned in Revelation 19:6. (God forbid any be taken away or added)

We are also aware that God is all knowing.

That enquiry by Bohm is already answered in The Holy Scriptures.

God is all.

So there is no reason for vain discussion’s questioning whether God is all things. He was informed on other threads he posted and chose to reject it.

Yes, thank you God for using Paul with a message to warn the Colossians about the spoiling through philosphy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

It was unnecessary for Jesus to know quantum mechanics - and many other scientific facts - because He did not come to teach us about the things of this world. He had far more important “things” in mind! 🙂
Let’s go just a bit further with this. If Jesus is God, and we know He is, then, far more than “knowing about quantum mechanics”, we have to admit that quantum mechanics IS a tiny part of Jesus inasmuch as, unless He has it in His mind, quantum mechanics would instantly become void.

Now, that’s not to explain Jesus’ dual nature. Being God, He could arrange that according to His will and purposes. Might He have been able to know and understand the limits of human knowledge and understanding perfectly, so that, in that “other” part of His mind, He knew the human part, being fully human, knew nothing about quantum mechanics and had no means of learning it at the time. More than that, while his body remained unglorified, would He fail to know that simply opening his human brain to the full “blast” of Divine knowledge would, e.g., give Him such a surge of adrenalin that it would stop his human heart or give his human brain a massive stroke? After all, the bible does tell us that we could not stand fully in the presence of God and live.

So, perhaps the answer is that He was in full knowledge of quantum mechanics and far more, but He did not introduce into His human brain any more than it could physically deal with at the time. Being a limited thing, our own knowledge of QM would not have been all that big a burden. But neither do we know the limitations on all the implications of QM either. They might be far more vast than we could possibly imagine. I have often wondered about those angels who participate in the functioning of the universe. Since their function is their full nature and therefore their “names”, would we even survive being “told” an angel’s full “name”? I certainly can’t prove it one way or the other, but I am inclined to doubt we could.

Regardless, perhaps we could simply say He did not attempt to fully “force” infinite knowledge into human synapses, and that He chose what to “download”. We, ourselves, can know what He spoke of, but we cannot possibly know what all His mind contained.

We, ourselves, can know what He spoke of, but we cannot possibly know what all His mind contained.
And neither can we possibly know all of what He spoke. John 21:25, “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.”

If you take into consideration the original language of the opening of John’s gospel, where the Greek “logos,” is eventually translated into “The Word,” the answer to the question might be that quantum mechanics are a part of Christ. Much more than the connotations of “The Word,” in English, Logos can connotate the underlying order of things, wisdom, truth, the perpetually created formative* Word. With Christ as the underlying eternal cause of what quantum mechanics attempts to describe. Going back to attempting to marry science to Catholic Theology, the Logos concept always helps me reconcile it. Hope those two cents add to a very interesting question!*
