your very welcome. and before any of the ladies get mad at me, this is tongue and cheek. not trying to slight the women at all. i love women. they absolutely intrigue me. i am an avowed celibate, but i have 2 very close female friends, one of 16 years that just fascinate me. i love trying to figure out how their minds work. and how, when i have an issue, i can bring it to each of them, and if i get a consensus i can make very good decisions. God stated it is not good that man should be alone. but he didnt state i had to have an intimate relationship with a woman… not to mention, if the military wanted me to have a wife, they would have issued me one. 😉
I just love the statement “not to mention, if the military wanted me to have a wife, they would have issued me one.”

I take you are in the military what branch and thank you for your service.

If the military wanted me to have a wife, they would have issued me one!

Oh you could rest assure of that!🙂

So true, so true. My godson and daughter are in the military also. My daughter is a MP and studying to be a pilot (Helicopters) and my godson is in basic training, going to be infintry.

😛 how would all that traveling and leaving at a moments notice go over with any wife? not to mention time constraints. i can see it now. " Jesus, you take time to feed 5000 people! what about meeee?!" then the next wife, " all you do is hang out with your 12 buddies. what about us, and our needs. you ask if your disciples love you, you havent asked us that in how long?" and on and on it goes. no way hosea, he couldnt have been married. not to one, let alone three! lol! peace 🙂
But He’d be the perfect husband if He would have married in the earthly sense (not like the ‘spiritual’ marriage between the Church and Him), wouldn’t He? 😃

Only Christ has mission unique to Himself: Redeemer and Savior of the world…

Marriage is a separate vocation.

Miriam,

As I have continued to understand Mormonism, it does appear to me that yes it is based on a mortal man becoming godhead in the next life.

It does not mean Jesus is a servant in the Celestial Kingdom. As I stated previously, He was God before His mortal birth, so does that mean He was married beforehand and had no need to marry here? I don’t know. This is one of those areas that nothing definitive has been revealed.

I can understand why you see it that way.

No.
This is the reason. We were trying to obey the command of the Lord as best we could, but were hindered in our efforts. In this case it behooved the Lord to not require the work any more. We had demonstrated our willingness to obey, in spite of the overwhelming hinderances put in place. So instead of fighting against the law of the land, the Lord had us follow one of our core beliefs of obeying, honoring and sustaining the law of the land.

You may not be able to associate it with plural marriage, but those involved knew it was in direct correlation with it.

I appreciate your candor…I was not offended nor felt cornered.
I do not have everything that every leader ever said readily accessible, so when I am asked about statements, I tend to want to see the exact quote in the context it was made.

In answer to your previous question about my personal view on God being a man on another planet:
I believe that God the Father went through a mortal life Just like Jesus did. Just as Jesus existed as God before His mortal life, so did God the Father.
If one takes all the teachings of past leaders to understand the full picture that they try to paint, then you can understand our position better. Instead, many simply pull one or two statements out ot context to construct something that we don’t really teach.
Just as Gordon B. Hinkley stated, there is not much known about it. Specifics have not been revealed. We don’t stress it. Believe it or not, our critics bring it up more than we do. We stress obedience to the commandments and faithfulness in the teachings of Christ.
We recognize it as a possible reward, as one of our hymns(Have I done any good?) states:
“Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.”

I wish you and all a very merry Christmas
I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas. To labour the points of our differences in faith is pointless. We believe in our Churches and our doctrines and they are very different.I have great respect for you and I know you sincerely believe what you do.For me I sincerely and ardently believe Jesus started His own Church here on earth from St.Peter as His first leader the Pope and this has been carried directly through until the present day to Pope Benedict himself.

We pray for all those who have wandered from the path (gone off from the catholic church to other denominations). I have to just say the extraordinary beleifs of your religion baffle me as to why God would allow you to all be ‘gods’ as an equal to him of another planet is more than extraordinary. However let us just agree to disagree I wish you well my friend and can see you are sincere.May God bless you and open your heart and mind to the truth your friend Teresa

the perfect husband??? how would Jesus have convinced his Mother in law?? 😛 nope. even if his wife got it, his Mother in law, certainly would not have. lol! peace 🙂
