Did Jesus really descend into hell?

In our Catholic “Apostles Creed,” it states that Jesus descended Into hell and on the third day, he rose again. My husband, who is a Baptist, was reading "Revelations: 1:17-18, and asked me, "did Jesus descend into hell to get the keys to death and to Hades? And did he spend three days there?
