DId Jesus talk to Buddha

So there is this apologetic website claiming that some archaelogist stumbled upon what is called the “Gospel of Buddha” which confers Jesus talked to Buddha notwithstanding the fact Buddha exsisted 500 years before christ;

1 *These are the secretive, private, confidential, discreet, cryptic, unuttered, unspoken, hush-hush teachings that Jesus revealed unto Buddha, when they met on one of the moons of Jupiter, which have now been revealed unto all men and women, Mormons and Muslims, and Americans and Europeans. And this Gospel was written by Buddha during the first century. *

The first thing that came to mind is Buddha was around 500BC so Jesus would have to appeared to him earlier.

When I read the first counter to that objection I decided I was not going to be persuaded that this was anything other than hooey.
 
Oh my… that is one of the funniest things I have read recently, the website must be run by some mad men… But was the humor intentional I wonder, or do they really believe in what they write… take for example…

*Yes, Buddha, to you are the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven revealed. But from others they shall be kept, so that weeping they shall not weep, and sleeping they shall not sleep, and peeping they shall not peep, and leaping they shall not leap, and sweeping they shall not sweep. *

And ir rhymes… hey you can continue this… And by eating they will not eat, by browsing the internet they will not browse, and by procrastinating they will not procrastinate… back to work then!

Considering what we know about the Buddha and the language of his time, it’s not even worth consideration to even critique this “gospel of Buddha”. It is so far out of the realm of reality that we would be foolish to discuss it.

You might think so, but my manager at my previous job was firm in his belief that Jesus journeyed East (during the period of His life not covered in the Bible) and studied with Buddha. There was absolutely no way to convince him otherwise, including informing him that Buddha died several centuries before Christ walked the Earth. When people want to believe something, they’re going to believe it.
 
gospel of buddha?:eek:!actually how many gospels in the world except the pure 4 gospels?i heard about the gospel of judas&gospel of barnabus.also gospel of mary magdaline(i read about it in the book,da vinci code).now recenty know about a new gospel named gospel of buddha!:p.so what is the next gospel?will it be the gospel of KRISHNA(hindu god):D?lol really funny.
 
I’m currently working on the Gospel of the Bar-B-Que Chicken Nugget at the moment.

I didnt realize than until i read further;

In order to confirm our reasoning, we placed three different foods in front of Cletus, my pet monkey. The first was a plate of steamed okra, which we marked “2005.” The next was a bowl of uncooked rice, marked “6th Century BC.” The final food was a ripe banana with “1st Century AD” written across the peel in magic marker. Cletus immediately went for the banana, proving our conjecture that, given the evidence, even a stupid monkey would conclude that GB is a first century work.

I do realize that this particular page is meant to be satire. What I was saying is that not everyone interprets these things that way, and that there are some sources out there which claim that Jesus did in fact study with Buddha. It would be funny if it weren’t so sad.

Good story, Next paragraph should say that before Jesus and Budha met at Io (one of the moon of Jupiter) they borrowed the spacesuit of Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, took a ride on USS Enterprise NCC 1701, captained by James T. Kirk, have physical Check by Dr. McCoy, From Io, Buddha opened a wormhole and went “Back to the Future” to time from 500 BC to 1AD. etc… etc…

Now you’re just being ridiculous. We all know that Buddha was too big to fit into either of their spacesuits.
 
:rolleyes: Yeah,the thing reads like a joke,which i believe it to be.
Now,as I understand it, there is a period of time in the life of Our Lord we know very little about until his public ministry begins.
Some say Jesus spent time with the Essenes,which is quite possible, and then there are those who say he went to the east,to India and especially Tibet.Did He,we don’t know.If Jesus did go there and He ever met Buddha,that claptrap they have on that website is not what they talked about,because none knows for sure.

Dear Fuerza,

Indeed I was joking. Arguing that Jesus and Buddha met each other despite the time difference of 500 years, is one thing. But, setting the meeting place in one of the moon of Jupiter is too much.

I believe that those sources refer to Jesus studying with Buddhists, not Buddha.
 
Yes, meeting on the moon is out of place. Meetign on earth is also difficult because the time difference is about 500 years. If you click on “Jesus in Heaven on Earth” on the web, you may surprised to see some real connection on this subject which may been distorted into the meeting of Jesus with Budha.

Possibly, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are people who actually believe that He studied with Buddha himself.
