The article linked below endeavors to show that Job of the Old Testament book which bear his name actually was a real person. While this article admits that it does not matter when it comes to the intention of the Book of Job whether he existed or not, this article all the same deals with the issue of whether this person is a saint who was a real person or a fiction.

I have certainly always considered Job to be an historical figure. I thought he lived around the time of Abraham and it was a given that Job is the oldest book of Scripture. Furthermore I just finished reading it again and was struck by the amount of Gospel in it including that God restores Job when he acts as priest and prays for his accusers. Sounds familiar somehow.

God Bless

Traditionally Job has always been believed to have been a real person, not fiction. St. James mentions him in his letter Jame 5:11. Ezekiel mentions him in Ez 14:14,20.
