No, i didn’t make it all up. The $105 and the $150 figure is completely accurate and they are both designed very similiarly.

And i have to independant sources i can use to come up with my overall figure. It’s just a simple ratio equation to come up with $2.5 billion in aid from the LDS church. They both come to $2.5 billion in aid even though they are completely seperate sources. but i didn’t say and should use the figure because no one really knows on the LDS side. So now i can’t use that arguement anymore.

No i did not. I spent forever looking for that overall figure for catholic charities. I even asked that question in catholic.com and they pointed me to CRS. and yes, i can’t use that arguement because the overall figure is not known by comparison. But i dont make up any numbers at all.

Now if you want to talk about effectiveness in the aid given according to the principles of the gospel, That’s a completely different topic and the LDS still gets it hands down.

What do the CRS numbers really tell you about Catholic charity?
Almost nothing.
I spent forever looking for that overall figure for catholic charities. I even asked that question in catholic.com and they pointed me to CRS. .
They also told you there is no single acounting system or bank account for Catholic spending anywhere.
But you decided to pull a couple numbers out of a hat and make up a story.

Ya, the Mormon church tries to have good relations with all the churches in Utah since it has a huge presence or influence with everything there. There’s like 1.8 million mormons and 120,000 catholics. The catholic church does very well in other parts of the country in aid and support.
Not that it matters, but there are 250,000 Catholics living in Utah.

falisrm, you would have to ask every single Catholic where they donate their money and time…the Catholic Church does not require that any Catholic donate to CRS. There are numerous other charities, both Catholic and non-Catholic, that we contribute to.

Yes they did, and to a re-vamp of a soup kitchen…but they told the diocese they wanted maximun publicity. The LDS Church only gives with strings…and the current Bishop of SLC called the late Mormon Prophet in a eulogy a fine Christian!

“only gives with strings” right, that goes against the entire principle the lds church has had for the last 5 decades. They only now published its first aid contributions last year.

The Mormon Church NEVER discloses it’s finances, so I don’t see how you got your data about them Falisrm.

Could you elaborate on this.

If he’s using the same logic in his comparison of one US based charity to the entire LDS worldwide coffers, I hope not.

$3.62 Billion from Catholic Charities, USA FY ending 12/31/06.

Again, this is a separate institution from Catholic Charities Boston, Chicago, etc, etc, etc…

Just ONE of MANY charities Catholics give to.

On top of Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services 3 other Catholic charities are on the Forbes list:

Catholic Medical Mission
Boys/Girls Town
MaryKnoll

I have heard the LDS helped pay for the restoration of the Salt Lake Cathedral. Is this correct?
Yes, they did. They also helped raise funds from Church members for the project. Thomas S. Monson of the First Presidency (he is now President) took part in the fund raising effort. He also attended the dedicatory service of the Cathedral in his official capacity represinting the Church.

So are you calling the cathedral clergy liars…they told me!

In the Cathedral there are two murals to the side of the high altar…one is the text, " If I or an angel from Heaven preach to you another Gospel and the other is Matthew16:16.

Brilliant …by the way the dediacation to Mary Magdelene was chosen …as the Mormons ntered the valley on he Feast day in 1847.

Thanks. I didn’t look through the entire list. Keep in mind, these are US CHARITIES. Charities based in other nations weren’t included on the Forbes list.

I really don’t think you would like to get into this discussion. It’s pretty humbling…
Indeed, but not on the part you intended, is it?

AND it doesn’t include local parish and diocesan charities or Catholic hospitals.

your right, catholic charities are much bigger then i ever saw on paper. So how much do you donate in charity every month? I usually donate $50 a month.

Don’t you think it’s bad form to share exact figures of money and hours?..
