Did Mary remain a virgin?

Moses is not Mary. Mary is the Mother of God, so incredibly vital is her role in the Passion and ultimately our salvation. When we think of the Holy Family, we don’t think of Jesus’s brothers (which He didn’t have) we think of Mary, Jesus, and Joseph.

Obviously one can still serve God with many kids, but this isn’t really concerning that per say, this would concern the conditions of that day.

Both of these people were holy and entrusted with huge responsibilities. And apparently they found a way to juggle them. So I fail to see how that comparison fails. And you need to read more. Clearly you fail to remember that there’s a tradition that Jesus’s brothers were stepbrothers.

He emphasized on the word ‘until’ meaning that they did have relations and was no longer a virgin.

The first thing I would do marian12, is ask him . . . “WHY do you think St. Joseph “knew her not” at that point?”

After all, marital relations with your spouse is not “dirty”. Its not “sin”.

And as St. Jerome says, the angel TOLD St. Joseph to take Mary into his home.

SO WHY not have relations here?

Make sure he thinks about that.

When he gives you a well-thought out answer (such as the Blessed Virgin Mary was consecrated for a purpose that included laying down even her sexuality for God), then tell him . . .

Then remind him that “until” doesn’t mean anything regarding what happens afterwards.

He has been taught (if he had teachers like my old Baptist teachers) that “until” NECESSITATES a CHANGE IN STATUS.

That’s false. That is a tradition of men. That conclusion is un-Biblical.

It MAY suggest a change in status but it MAY NOT too.

The Knox Version of the Bible in Matthew 1:25a, gives an accurate rendering of this situation.

MATTHEW 1:25a (Knox Version) he had not known her when she bore a son.

Consider Acts 2 for a moment.

After Jesus’ enemies are vanquished, do you think God the Father kicks Jesus off His Heavenly Throne?

No of course not. Jesus remains on His Heavenly Throne forever.

Consider also death reigning over mankind from Adam UNTIL Moses.

ROMANS 5:14 14 Yet death reigned from Adam to (until) Moses, even over those whose sins were not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.

After Moses did death still reign?

Yes it did.

Did the “until” necessitate a "change in status of “death” after Moses was gone?

No it did not.

Consider as well, Michal, the daughter of Saul who cursed David and was herself cursed. Michal had NO CHILDREN . . . . UNTIL . . . the day of her death.

2nd SAMUEL 6:23 (RSV) 23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to (literally = until) the day of her death.

Did Michal begin having kids AFTER she died?

Absolutely not.

Did “until” necessitate a change in status here?

Nope.

The perpetual virginity of Mary is a Marian doctrine taught by the Catholic Church and held by a number of group since Christianity which asserts that Mary (the mother of Jesus was “always a virgin, before, during and after the birth of Jesus Christ.” because Jesus came out of her like a light, a miraculous birth. John 1:4, 5 in Him was life and the life was the light of all people.5 The light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not overcome it. Those people who twist scripture as young women give silly excuse to discredit Mary’s status and of being a virgin.
