Did Mary suffer the pains of labor and Childbirth?

As I await the birth of our 4th child in just 2 weeks, I wonder if Mary had to endure the pain of labor and childbirth? Since she was free from sin, does that mean that she would have been exempt from the suffering of becoming a mother?

Also, was Jesus born naturally and how would her virginity be intact after such an event?

Just the curious mind of a fellow mother.
