If he saw an angel it could only be the fallen one Satan. Mohammed was Satan’s best student.Did Mohammed see an angel? If so, how did he prove it?

Waraqa has no reason to know what visited Mohamed, and Mohamed clearly did not know. It is also accepted the visitations stopped for about 3 years after the first and only. He may have made up the rest as he was the the sole witness of every revelation including the first.A’isha, the wife of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him), reported: The first (form) with which was started the revelation to the Messenger of Allah was the true vision in sleep. And he did not see any vision but it came like the bright gleam of dawn. Thenceforth solitude became dear to him and he used to seclude himself in the cave of Hira’, where he would engage in tahannuth (and that is a worship for a number of nights) before returning to his family and getting provisions again for this purpose. He would then return to Khadija and take provisions for a like period, till Truth came upon him while he was in the cave of Hira’. There came to him the angel and said: Recite, to which he replied: I am not lettered. He took hold of me [the Apostle said] and pressed me, till I was hard pressed; thereafter he let me off and said: Recite. I said: I am not lettered. He then again took hold of me and pressed me for the second time till I was hard pressed and then let me off and said: Recite, to which I replied: I am not lettered. He took hold of me and pressed me for the third time, till I was hard pressed and then let me go and said: Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, created man from a clot of blood. Recite. And your most bountiful Lord is He Who taught the use of pen, taught man what he knew not (al-Qur’an, xcvi. 1-4). Then the Prophet returned therewith, his heart was trembling, and he went to Khadija and said: Wrap me up, wrap me up! So they wrapped him till the fear had left him. He then said to Khadija: O Khadija! what has happened to me? and he informed her of the happening, saying: I fear for myself. She replied: It can’t be. Be happy. I swear by Allah that He shall never humiliate you. By Allah, you join ties of relationship, you speak the truth, you bear people’s burden, you help the destitute, you entertain guests, and you help against the vicissitudes which affect people. Khadija then took him to Waraqa b. Naufal b. Asad b. 'Abd al-'Uzza, and he was the son of Khadija’s uncle, i. e., the brother of her father. And he was the man who had embraced Christianity in the Days of Ignorance (i. e. before Islam) and he used to write books in Arabic and, therefore, wrote Injil in Arabic as God willed that he should write. He was very old and had become blind Khadija said to him: O uncle! listen to the son of your brother. Waraqa b. Naufal said: O my nephew! what did you see? The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him), then, informed him what he had seen, and Waraqa said to him: It is namus that God sent down to Musa. Would that I were then (during your prophetic career) a young man. Would that I might be alive when your people would expel you! The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Will they drive me out? Waraqa said: Yes. Never came a man with a like of what you have brought but met hostilities. If I see your day I shall help you wholeheartedly. (Book #001, Hadith #0301)
The key words are, “he was the the sole witness of every revelation including the first.”I accept this as true as anything is in Islam. It seems a reasonable early account of an extraordinary experience, much like St. Paul, except the spirit that visited Moahmed roughed him up and more importantly never identified itself like in Pauls experience.
Waraqa has no reason to know what visited Mohamed, and Mohamed clearly did not know. It is also accepted the visitations stopped for about 3 years after the first and only. He may have made up the rest as he was the the sole witness of every revelation including the first.
Without question Mohamed is of unsavory character, but I can accept a evil spirit first confronted him. It was not undeard of in both OT and NT accounts, though it might be rare. Otherwise it gives Mohamed far to much credit for the establishment of Islam and I don’t think he was that bright. That hadith shows him in irrational fear- like a death bed confession of sorts- it seems a genuine first reaction. The prophecy by Waraqa…about being driven out… I think was added later. The key words are, “he was the the sole witness of every revelation including the first.”
So, with all due respect, whether you accept him or not is not the question. The question is, could Mohammed prove that he saw an angel. In the absence of even eyewitness testimony, he couldn’t. And if he couldn’t why should anyone believe anything he said.
Sincerely,
Mohamed can not prove it and no one should believe anything he does say, but that does not discount the liklihood of a visitation. That small truth of possible fact gives no credibility to what all is attributed to Mohamed or that spirit as recorded in the Quran. In fact it I think it is a reason he had such conviction- misguided as it is to be so convincing to others.De Maria
[SIGN]Unbelievers![/SIGN]Mohammed said he saw an angel, they believe him, no need for proof… so Muslim say anyway…
oh silly me, i left that part out of my answer…:doh2:[SIGN]Unbelievers![/SIGN]
Don’t you realise the proof’s in the Koran which says it’s from an angel of god?
He was even tricked by SatanHe saw much much more than just an angel Surah 53 verses 1-18
And this version of Muhammed’s based on what? The people of his time believed Muhammad (s) because he lived among the people without making known his ministry for forty years where he first establish his truthfulness, reliability, kindness, high mindedness, tolerance and wisdom, so that when the announcement of his prophethood would be made public, they should have no hesitation in accepting the invitation given by him to worship one God.
I always thought that he wasn’t that intelliegent -that’s why his book’s full of so many mistakesI also think 23 years is enough time to learn to read and write…
Well since it was written by a human and not God, we have to allow a book of that size to have many mistakes.I always thought that he wasn’t that intelliegent -that’s why his book’s full of so many mistakes
In other words, “no”, “no one else saw the angel or whatever much more than that constitutes”.He saw much much more than just an angel Surah 53 verses 1-18
By the Star when it goes down,-
Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled.
Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire.
It is no less than inspiration sent down to him:
He was taught by one Mighty in Power,
Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form);
While he was in the highest part of the horizon:
Then he approached and came closer,
And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer;
So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.
The (Prophet’s) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.
Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?
For indeed he saw him at a second descent,
Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass:
Near it is the Garden of Abode.
Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)
(His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!
For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest!
“And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character.” Quran 68:4

The people rightfully knew him as “al-amin”. “Al” in the Arabic language denotes exclusive distinction and refers to the person who alone owns the quality mentioned after it. “Amin” refers to a person who can be trusted beyond any suspicion in whatever he does or undertakes to do.
Well that ‘timess miracle’ part is in the least debateable.Nay, the proof of the Prophet-hood of Muhammad (pbuh) is not him seeing angels… but rather the ultimate proof that he is indeed the Messenger of God is the timeless miracle that he brought to humankind i.e. the Qur’an.
Ah! You mean the terrorists handbook!!There are indeed reports of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) themselves seeing the angels at various occasions during the times when they accompanied him.
However, the question is – What difference would this make to Christians since they believe that Satan is a fallen angel?
Nay, the proof of the Prophet-hood of Muhammad (pbuh) is not him seeing angels… but rather the ultimate proof that he is indeed the Messenger of God is the timeless miracle that he brought to humankind i.e. the Qur’an.
On the contrary, the timeless miracle can not only be debated but in fact be tested objectively and comprehensively.Well that ‘timeless miracle’ part is in the least debateable.![]()
