Did my friend make his holy day of obligation?

I have a friend who lives in Lake Andes, SD. He went to Mass today - Thursday - for the Solemnity of the Ascension. But in his diocese, that holy day of obligation was transferred to Sunday, right?

Well, he will be coming down to Omaha, where the Ascension is celebrated on Thursday, this Saturday. (So he will have missed the Feast of the Ascension in the Omaha diocese - Thursday - and in the diocese he is from - Sunday.)

Has he fulfilled the requirements to go to church on the Day of the Ascension in either diocese?
 
The requirement is to attend Mass on a holy day of obligation. His diocese transfers the Ascension to Sunday thus he has no obligation to attend Mass other than on Sunday (or Saturday night). By attending Mass on Saturday night or Sunday he has fulfilled all that is required of him. The fact that the Mass itself was not the particular feast day does not impact fulfillment of the obligation.
