Did Paul forbid women from speaking in assemblies?

So when you go to Mass, and Father is giving the homily, is it normal for people in your parish to start waving their hands and asking Father questions, like at a press conference?

Sheesh, it’s not just women who are forbidden to ask questions during Mass. Obviously St. Paul was very tolerant of his newbie Christians.

So how is this pronouncement embarrassing for Paul? How is it a matter only for his own time?

I’m guessing the way he phrased it (eg asking husbands).

Early Christianity did not really give women full equality. It did help alleviate the mistreatment (eg domestic abuse) but it’s definitely a verse meant for that context and culture.

Glib answer. Interesting how people choose which instructions from the Bible are specific to the context of the times vs. instructions for all time.

Glib answer to a disingenuous question … although I agree with you that it is interesting which instructions from the Bible are specific to the context of the times vs. instructions for all time.
