First of all, I’m Brazilian and my english is not so good, so I’d appreciate your comprehension :D.

First of all, I’d like to show some versicles from bible that supports what i think:

John 18,33-34:
Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

Mark 5:2
Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus replied, "You have said it.

John 19,19-22:
Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews. Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”
Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”
Now, when Pilate heard the voice of the truth in front of him, he could not resist of it, and he intimously assumed that it was truth?
I heard that there are some saints of the catholic church, as Pio of Pietrelcina have the “power” to read what’s inside anybody’s soul. Did Jesus, as a human, had this power to, and he read intimously what was inside Pilate’s soul, that he knew Jesus was God?
Knowing that Jesus was God, could Pilate had sinned for Condemning the son of God? Or he could not cause God had prepared this crucification in the beggining?

Thanks.

Pilate was a Roman pagan. He had no understanding of the God of the Jews.

But he knew there was something special about Jesus. His wife had had a dream about Jesus and warned Pilate to have nothing to do with him. Jesus was renowned as a worker of miracles, and Pilate surely knew this (especially as he had hung out with King Herod (a Jew) and had discussed Jesus with him).

So Jesus was not an ordinary guy. I am sure that something as mysterious as the Incarnation did not enter into his thoughts, but he probably had a fair amount of good ol’ pagan superstition and was reluctant to condemn Jesus.

Pilate did not know that Jesus was the voice of truth. Jesus even told him so, and Pilate countered, “What is truth?” (John 18:37).

The Oriental Orthodox believe Pilate to be a saint, that his wife was a firm follower of Jesus and eventually Pilate bore witness to the events in Jerusalem that Jesus died and resurrected for which he was martyred.

Totally speculative thought if Pilate had spoken Latin to Jesus and said “QUID EST VERITAS?” (“What is truth?”) because an anagram of this is “EST VIR QUI ADEST”–“It is the man who stands before you.”
