Did Pope Francis really say this might be our "last Christmas"?

I read something on the internet recently that claims that Pope Francis made some kind of an apocalyptic claim in a recent sermon, saying that this might be our “last Christmas.” I am not sure if this is a true story. Have you heard anything about this? Is it possible that God would reveal to the Pope beforehand the timing of the Second Coming, and ask him to drop hints about it? Thank you.

  1. The best I can find are a few reports that do not reference any sources that claim Pope Francis said: “While the world starves, burns, and descends further into chaos, we should realize that this year’s Christmas celebrations for those who choose to celebrate it may be their last.” Even if these are his words, and that’s a **big **if, it seems to clearly be in reference to the many people caught in areas of the world that are in the midst of war and other violence. For many Christians in the Middle East and other parts of the world it might indeed be their last Christmas given the war, violence, and killing taking place. There is no reasonable way to read the alleged quote as directly speaking about “the end times.”
  2. There is no possible way that God revealed this is the end times to the Pope and had him “drop hints” about it. Jesus clearly stated that no man knows the hour of the end.
