Yes, it looks like you’re right. I don’t see it either. I’ll have to do some more digging and see where that quote came from.

I 'm on Yahoo & find they are the worst reporters. I take everything I read there with a grain of salt.

Can you support your contention that the Pope never said:“One day we will see our animals again in the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all God’s creatures.” Several sources are reporting that this is what was said.

I looked at these links and those sites totally took this out of context.

Tim Staples has spoken about this before multiple times and Jimmy Akin mentions this in minute 5 of video below.

Typically, animals and plants do not go to heaven. BUT, when speaking to children, it’s OK to tell them if they need their pet in heaven to truly be happy in heaven, then the pet will be there.

When we are with God in heaven, we are surrounded by love. If a child who dies needs his/her pet to be happy with God, God will give the child his/her pet.

But in reality and most likely, we will not need out pets in heaven. After all, we are not even married in heaven, so if we don’t have our spouses in heaven, we most likely won’t need our pets.

It was not a sarcastic comment. It was link to the internet story.
I didn’t make any digs on anyone.
I don’t know WHAT you are talking about, but I wish you’d just stop it. We all know that secular sources tend to misinterpret Pope Francis.
 
Well I for one hope to see my Favorite farm Dog up there,
If anyone beats me there look for a black Kelpie , beautiful natured dog,
Very intelligent , goes by the name, Buddy

Then there’s my childhood Favorite dog, a Scotch Collie , goes by the name Toby,

Then there’s my two love bird Budgerigars that froze to death on a cold winters night,
They go by the name , Bird

Probably because she saw it on Yahoo after logging out of her email, just the same as when I log out of Hotmail and shake my head while reading MSN’s “news.” 🤷

I <3 my dog. She is my baby. But somehow, I do not think she will be foremost in my mind once I could hide in our LORD’s arms!

Yet, I have my doubts when professional philosophers tie Life Eternal to the capacity for doing philosophy. Self-serving, anybody??

I also wonder why God would allow affectionate beings to perish :):). Affection is so hard to come by.

I’ve already done this – I provided the link to the radiovaticana transcript of the pope’s comments. That sentence isn’t there.

p.s., the proper response would be, “can the ‘several sources’ substantiate that the pope did say what they say he said? If not, then their reporting is deficient.” … 😉
 
This is what happens when we hang on every word the Pope says even though 99.998% of what he says has absolutely zero to do with our daily lives…

Insults, condescending remarks about the Holy Father, questioning the teaching of the Church…

If that is what makes you happy, God can restore your pets to you. If Heaven has flowers, trees, birds, butterflies, it probably has other life forms, like dogs, horses, cats, etc.

Infallibility is not really the issue at all. God loves His creation and may bring them back again.

***I remember when Benedict gave a homily on our responsibility for creation a few years ago and the press reported that he wore special green vestments as a sign of his commitment to environmentalism.

That’s the calibre of informed theological awareness we are nearly always dealing with when the press reports on the Church. That, and the press’ love of narratives of conflict, is what drives nearly all reportage on this pope too.

Here’s the passage some are interpreting as saying animals go to Heaven:
Pope Francis:

This is standard Catholic doctrine–nothing new or shocking like the media is making it out to be:

True and subsistent life consists in this: the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit, pouring out his heavenly gifts on all things without exception. Thanks to his mercy, we too, men that we are, have received the inalienable promise of eternal life.645

As a pet owner, (German Shepherd), and having had pets all my life, grew up on a farm, dogs, cats, horses, and even a pet pig. I raised 7 boys and they have had pets from fish to rabbits to a snake, hamsters and many others. I loved most of them, (not the snake),) and all but my dear German shepherd have died. She is only 5 so she may outlive me. I do NOT believe any one of them went to doggie, piggy or snakie heaven. The lived their life and served their purpose and that’s it. I am fond of the many memories they gave me, especially one that saved my life when I was young. Lets get real and stop treating pets as people. God Bless, Memaw
