IMHO the Devil knew for a long time Jesus was coming to Earth. I mean, the Devil tried to overthrow God, and Jesus has been around since the beginning of time, right? Surely the Devil knew Jesus then, and knew He’d be showing up soon-ish on Earth.

The real question is, why didn’t the Devil try to stop it? (Hint; he actually totally tried).

Well, you can look at the Old Testament being one big gambit on the part of the Devil. He wants humanity to fold so he can have all the souls. Things reach a breaking point when, according to Issiah; Jesus Christ is coming to Earth, born from a woman. This gives the Devil an opportunity though; he can’t take out Christ Himself, Christ is God and the Devil already tried to beat God and lost. He could go after the Earthly PARENTS of Christ. This too presents a problem though - Christ was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. The “father” part of the equation is also God, so the Devil can’t touch that. Whose left?

The mother. Mary.

The Devil begins his next gambit, to go after the mother. He tries and tries, and we see the results of this in Revelations 12.

God ain’t dumb, He knows this is going to happen. So He protects “the woman” (Mary) by giving her the “wings of the eagle” and takes her to “a safe place in the desert”.

The Devil fails his attempts at taking out Mary, because it’s pretty hard to tempt or destroy someone when they were conceived without original sin (“wings of the eagle”).

This is what Catholics refer as the Immaculate Conception.
 
No, he didn’t. He of course knew that the God was Triune, and that the Son was the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. However, Satan is not omniscient, omnipotent, etc. He didn’t know who Jesus was in Jesus’ fullness. But Satan is clever, and much cleverer than we are. So he was, in the beginning, confused about who this Jesus was. Confused and probably worried. This is what the tempting in the desert was all about for Satan - he wanted to discover who this man was. Eventually he came to know and understand that Jesus was God Incarnate, sent to save the world.

Yes; I would say Satan did know- in fact- I would say he knew from the very beginning since that is how he got to be Satan in the first place. When the Father revealed His plan that He would redeem mankind by taking on a human coil- Lucifer got indignant and vowed he would not serve a God that would take the lowly form of a human being… “I WILL NOT SERVE!” he railed against the Father.

Then the battle among the angels ensued, and after a long, heated debate; Archangel St. Michael cried out, “Who is like God?!” and that settled it. Lucifer and the 1/3 of the other angels that followed him were cast down into hell and the rest is history.

So I would say he did know.
