Not Luther. But some LDS missionaries claimed that several Reformers believed in polygamy. I can’t find anything googling one way or the other.

Well one name stands out John of Leyden who made himself to be a successor of David, he claimed royal honor, He claimed to have visions from heaven to justify is tyrannical behavior. He legalized polygamy, and took four wives for himself, and one he beheaded with his own hand while having a fit. He was executed in 1535.
This John Leyden and many others took to Martin Luthers free will only faith saves you theology, and began to interpret Sacred Scripture litterally there are many so called evnagelist who took to their personal interpretations of the bible and made a mockery of Europe and Germany, , these commoners no longer heeded the moral authority of the Catholic church, or civil authorities for that matter. Even Luther married an ex nun Catherine Bora, and urged all priests and bishops do the same.
This is how the anabaptist, and so many others began to branch off from the Catholic church, because Martin Luther convinced them they can interpret Sacred Scripture without an authority, but their faith alone. Some went on roof tops literally and preached from the house tops, some went out and stood by the road side waiting for God to feed them, according to their interpretation of the bible.
Today, we got many self governing Christian churches, that hold to this faith alone theology. It has become big business for alot of Protestants and Evangelicals, but no authority on faith and morals to have the measuring standard, just what the bible tells them. Unbelievable.
